Why your dentist needs X-RAY from your teeth?
X-RAYS help your dentist look at parts of the mouth that cannot be seen during a regular examination. For example:
1. an infection in your tooth or tooth root
2. cavities between teeth or under fillings
3. trouble with teeth or jaw development in children and teens who are getting their permanent teeth

You might not even think about saliva until you have a problem. Saliva benefits your oral health in several ways. Saliva plays a big role in fighting cavities. The bacteria in
your mouth make cavity-causing acid when you eat or drink. Saliva helps reduce this acid. Also, if you live in an area where the water has fluoride in it, saliva can help keep the outside layer of teeth hard by washing the teeth in fluoride. If you wear dentures, you may notice problems with the fit if you have dry mouth. A thin layer of saliva can help hold your dentures in place. Dentures that slip can make it difficult to speak clearly or chew food and may rub the soft tissues of your mouth. Dentures that rub can not only be uncomfortable, but they also can cause sores in your mouth.
Contact your dentist if your dentures do not seem to fit well. Do not try to adjust
them yourself, as that can cause more problems.

Space maintainers help “hold space” for permanent teeth. Your child may need one if he or she loses a baby tooth prematurely, before the permanent tooth is ready to erupt. If a primary tooth is lost too early, adult teeth can erupt into the empty space instead of where they should be. When more adult teeth are ready to come into the mouth, there may not be enough room for them because of the lost space. To prevent this from happening, the dentist may recommend a space maintainer to hold open the space left by the missing tooth.
