This is one of the most common questions I get from patients!

In this video, I go over the costs of common dental treatments, including fillings, crowns, and root canals.

One thing I always tell my patients is that the earlier you take care of a problem, the better.

A cavity might just need a filling, but if you wait too long, that same tooth could end up needing a root canal and crown.

Not only does treatment become more complicated, but it can also become a lot more expensive.

Don't wait until something hurts to get it checked out. Taking care of the small things now can save you a lot of time, money, and headaches down the road!

Insurance covers two cleanings a year. That doesn't mean two cleanings a year is right for you.

I recently had a patient with active gum disease. Her insurance covered two visits a year, but we knew that wasn't going to be enough, so we started seeing her every 3 months.

Even then, she still had active disease.

So we moved her to every 2 months. That's when things finally started to turn around. Once we were seeing her more often, a lot of her disease got better.

If we had stuck to what her insurance covered, we wouldn't have been treating her disease. We would've just been watching it get worse.

Insurance plans are written for large groups of people. They decide what they'll pay for. They don't know your mouth, your history, or what I'm seeing when you're in my chair.

That doesn't mean everyone needs to come in more often. A lot of my patients do great with two visits a year. But some don't, and I'd rather tell you that honestly than just follow the plan's calendar.

We'll still use your insurance and try to maximize it, but we're not going to let insurance dictate your treatment.

If you've been told you have gum disease, ask us how often you should really be coming in.

When people hear "implant," most of them picture the tooth. The implant itself is actually the part that goes in the bone, like a root. The tooth goes on later.

So usually we place the implant first and give the bone some time to heal around it. Then we put the tooth on. How long that takes really depends on the person: how much bone you have, your gums, your health. Some people can move faster. Some people need a little bone grafting first.

If you're missing a tooth and not sure what makes sense, come in and we'll take a scan and go over it with you.
