Fantastic time at the Symposium this weekend learning more about the latest technology, techniques & research that pushes the boundaries of what we can do for our patients by expanding upper jaw, developing dental arches, improving airway and overall quality of life, which traditional orthodontics alone can’t achieve! 👏🙌 Also I finally got to meet Amy from in person, who custom-designed many skeletal expanders (MARPE) for our patients with me via zoom meetings over the last few years! Through this evolutionary treatment option, we’re able to transform our patients’ smiles and lives without removing teeth and jaw surgery! We take 3D xray and digital scan, and I place all the microimplants (TADs) and perform piezoelectric incision as needed in our office to help expanding the upper jaw more predictably for our patients’ convenience and comfort. So excited for our Office Manager Austin & wifey Nicole about the upcoming arrival of precious princess Leah! 🤩🥰💝🎉 Although we’re a bit worried (actually very scared 😅🙈) to not have Austin’s help during his paternity leave, we know that he’ll be spending quality time with family during this life-changing experience as a proud father & loving hubby! 🫶👏 We can’t wait to meet baby Leah soon! 😘🥳

This weekend Dr. Jung and I had the honor of meeting and learning from Dr. Jae Park at the SoCal Edward Angle Society meeting with other colleagues. 🙏 He is a world renowned orthodontist, educator, past President of the American Board of Orthodontics, Professor and Chair of the Postgraduate Orthodontic Program at the Arizona School of Dentistry & Oral Health who has also won many awards, published books and over 440 scientific articles. Despite his impressive accomplishments, he is very down-to-earth and shared his life experiences with us in addition to invaluable clinical pearls especially on treating complex cases with TADs and clear aligners, which would’ve been impossible without surgery traditionally. We’ve been incorporating similar contemporary mechanics in our practice and are inspired to continue learning and pushing the envelope to provide the best orthodontic care for our patients. 🙌

Had an awesome weekend attending the CE conference on Advances in Diagnosis & Treatment of Sleep Apnea & Snoring hosted by UCSF with other medical and dental professionals, meeting up with friends and amazing orthodontists , and visiting beautiful office of Dr. Yoo who was my .ortho co-resident!!
Airway health is a very important consideration in my treatment planning of all our patients, as our speciality is not just in Orthodontics but also Dentofacial Orthopedics. We don’t just help our patients straighten their teeth and perfect their smiles but at the same time, do our part in ordering the appropriate diagnostic tests and imaging, referring to our medical colleagues, and offering orthodontic and orthopedic options to help skeletally expand the maxilla and increase nasal cavity, or advancing both jaws to improve airway when appropriate, with consideration of facial balance and gum health. Together we can do so much to improve long-term health and quality of life for our patients, which is why I love our specialty so much!

Happy Birthday to our amazing associate Board-certified orthodontist Dr. Jung & certified Orthodontic Assistant Melisa! 🎂🥳 Dr. Jung graduated from USC Orthodontics like Dr. Lee and is now a part-time faculty there. She’s also a loving mother to two adorable girls! 🥰 Melisa is awesome with patients and also in charge of keeping track of all the clinical supplies and patient flow! They’ve been creating thousands of fabulous smiles with us over the years & we’re so blessed to have them on our team! 🙌🙏
