A missing tooth doesn't stay a missing tooth. It quietly becomes three problems. 🦷
Most people file a gap under "cosmetic" — something to sort out when there's time and money. What's actually going on is structural:
1️⃣ The teeth either side drift and tilt into the space
2️⃣ The tooth above or below grows down toward it
3️⃣ The jawbone underneath, with nothing to support, starts to shrink
That last one is the reason we bring implants up earlier than patients expect. An implant post fuses to the jawbone and keeps it doing its job. Once bone is lost, replacing that tooth becomes a longer, more involved and more expensive treatment than it would have been.
To be clear — this is not an emergency. Nobody needs to panic about a gap. It's just genuinely simpler and cheaper the sooner someone looks at it.
