Which parts of the tooth will Dr. Hornberger treat during a root canal? Beneath the enamel and dentin is the pulp, which contains the tooth’s nerve and blood supply. If the pulp becomes infected or inflamed, it’s carefully removed, the inside of the tooth is cleaned and sealed, and the tooth is preserved so it can continue to function comfortably.
