October 16 is World Endodontics Day! This date marks the birthday of Dr. Louis I. Grossman, who is considered the 'father of endodontics.'

Most importantly, though, World Endodontics Day is a chance to discuss the importance of saving your natural teeth.

This weekend we had the opportunity to volunteer with Arlington Food Assistance Center. AFAC helps support more than 4,000 Arlington families by providing regular, healthy groceries so they can focus their budget on other necessary expenses.

If your gums have started to recede, can they eventually grow back? Unfortunately, lost gum tissue typically doesn’t regenerate on its own—but there are ways to protect your teeth and restore areas affected by recession. 🦷

The right treatment depends on what’s causing the recession and how much tissue has been lost. In some cases, addressing the underlying cause and monitoring the area may be enough. In others, gum grafting can restore coverage over exposed roots and help create a healthier, more stable gumline.

Please join us in welcoming Dr. Farzaneh Rostami to Prestige Dental Specialists! Dr. Rostami is a board-certified oral and maxillofacial surgeon. Born in California and raised in Richmond, Virginia, she graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University with a double major in Biology and Chemistry, making the Dean’s List along the way. She earned her Doctor of Dental Surgery summa cm laude at VCU, followed by post-graduate oral and maxillofacial surgery training at VCU’s Medical College of Virginia.

Dr. Rostami provides the full scope of oral and maxillofacial surgery, including wisdom teeth removal, dental implants, corrective jaw surgery, facial reconstruction, TMJ disorder diagnosis and treatment, and other procedures.

When she's not in the office, Dr. Rostami enjoys Pilates, traveling, spending time with her family, and volunteering in dental outreach programs. We're thrilled to have her joining our team!
