It’s the final week of peer prophy experiences for our first-year dental hygiene students as they practice their skills and provide care to their classmates!

Next week, they’ll take the exciting next step and begin treating patients of record in the clinic! 🎉

We are so proud of their hard work, dedication, and progress as they continue to grow into future dental hygienists.

Great work, everyone! We are excited to celebrate this milestone! 💛 💙

Our DH faculty recently visited a local high school’s Dental Technology program to connect with students and share what’s possible with a career in dental hygiene.
From the classroom to the clinic, we’re preparing the next generation of oral health professionals. 💛 💙 🦷

We were honored to welcome dental hygiene (DH) students from the Institute of Science Tokyo for a recent visit! 🇯🇵🦷

Our guests had the opportunity to shadow didactic courses and clinic sessions, while connecting with our UMDH faculty and students. A special luncheon was planned to celebrate this wonderful exchange of knowledge and experiences. We can't wait for the next visit!

A special thank you to Iwonka Eagle, RDH, MS, for organizing this visit and helping make this experience possible. 💛💙

🦷💛💙 Our Dental Hygiene program was well represented recently at Festifall!

Our senior DH students and faculty had a great time representing our program, connecting with the campus community, and sharing more about dental hygiene education and our profession.

We also loved having two of our first-year students, Jackson and Ameen, stop by to visit and show support! It’s wonderful to see our students connecting across cohorts and showing their program pride.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by to say hello! We enjoyed meeting you and can't wait until next year's event!

First day of Fall Semester 🍁🍂💛💙

08/29/2026

Another semester in the books! 🦷📚✨

Our dental hygiene students have officially completed their spring / summer semester!

The Juniors celebrated an exciting milestone with their first OSCE (Objective Structured Clinical Examination), putting their developing clinical knowledge, skills, and confidence to the test. We are so proud of the growth they’ve shown and can’t wait to see what’s ahead!

The semester also brought a special tradition, the White Coat Ceremony, celebrating their continued journey toward becoming compassionate, skilled dental hygiene professionals.

And one of the most meaningful parts of the ceremony is our Bigs tradition! Each senior student is paired with a junior student to serve as their “Big,” offering encouragement, guidance, advice, and mentorship as they navigate the dental hygiene program. It’s a wonderful way to build connections, strengthen our dental hygiene family, and remind our students that they never have to go through this journey alone.

Congratulations to all of our dental hygiene students on completing another semester! Your hard work, perseverance, and dedication continue to shine. We are so proud of you and excited for all that the next chapter will bring! 🦷💛💙

Keep learning. Keep growing. Keep smiling! 😁✨
