The cause of teeth grinding is usually stress, anxiety or sleep problems. Most people who grind their teeth and clench their jaw aren't aware they're doing it. It often happens during sleep or while concentrating or under stress.

Symptoms of teeth grinding include:

facial pain
headaches
earache
pain and stiffness in the jaw joint (temporomandibular joint) and surrounding muscles, which can lead to temporomandibular disorder (TMD)
disrupted sleep (for you or your partner)
worn-down teeth, which can lead to increased sensitivity and even tooth loss
broken teeth or fillings

See your dentist if:

your teeth are worn, damaged or sensitive
your jaw, face or ear is painful
your partner says you make a grinding sound in your sleep
Your dentist will check your teeth and jaw for signs of teeth grinding

We would like to remind you that it is essential that every person gets a regular dental check every 6 months. If you haven't scheduled your appointment please feel free to call our office and we would schedule you at your best convenience. Most dental plans re-new in January and if you don't use your benefits they will be lost for 2017. In most cases plans cover this at 100% with no out of pocket expenses. If you have a question regarding your plan feel free to call and we can verify for you. We also have amazing in-house promotions for those who are uninsured.
