🦷✨ Fun Tooth Care Tips for Kids! ✨🦷

At Stellar Dental, we believe in making tooth care an enjoyable experience for our little patients! Here are 3 tips to make tooth care fun for your kids:

1️⃣ Turn brushing into a game! 🎮 Let your child pick out their favorite toothbrush and toothpaste flavor. Set a timer for two minutes and challenge them to brush all the "sugar bugs" away!

2️⃣ Create a reward system! 🌟 Make a tooth care chart and let your child add a sticker for each time they brush and floss. After a week of consistent care, reward them with a small prize or a fun outing!

3️⃣ Make it a family affair! 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Brush and floss together as a family to make it a bonding experience. Play some music, dance around, and make silly faces while taking care of your teeth!

Remember, keeping those pearly whites healthy can be a blast! 😁 Don't hesitate to reach out to us at Stellar Dental for any dental care needs or questions. Let's make tooth care an adventure for your kids!

What is a root canal?

When a tooth has become badly decayed or infected you may be told you need a root canal to save it. A root canal removes the pulp (innermost layer) of the tooth, cleans the inside of the tooth and seals it, this prevents infection from returning or spreading to adjoining teeth. Modern root canals are effective and gentle!

February is National Children’s Dental Health month!

Did you know that teeth start to form before you are even born? Children have 20 teeth (increasing to 32 as an adult!) that start popping through between the ages of 6 and 12 months. Preventative dental care from the start is key to keeping a healthy, happy smile!

Fast Fact of the week! 🚀
Did you know that by age 8, over 52% of kiddos have had a cavity in their baby teeth? 😱 It's true! 🦷 A child's initial trip to the dentist should happen by the age of 1 or within 6 months of their first tooth making an appearance. 🗓️ Give us a call today to meet our fantastic pediatric team and take the first step towards your child's bright and healthy smile! 😁👶

The average person only brushes for 45-70 seconds a day; the recommended time is 2-3 minutes! There are more bacteria in the human mouth than there are people on earth & brushing alone will miss 40% of your tooth’s surface, so make sure you’re flossing too! Waterpiks are available for purchase at all five offices, stop on in!

Introducing Stellar Dental Care’s owner, Dr. Dianna Melman...and her dog sunny

Dr. Melman opened the first Stellar Dental Care in 2009 and has since grown the practice into 5 Western New York offices, all still locally owned and woman-owned!

Why did you choose dental? I grew up in a dental family, both of my parents were dentists.

How long have you been in the field? Over 20 years, I started by going to hygiene school and was a hygienist for a year before I went to dental school. I continued to practice dental hygiene part-time while I attended dental school at UB.

Favorite thing to do locally? In the summer, I like to find different areas locally to hike and explore.

Hobbies? Hot Yoga and walking. I enjoy staying active. I also love to cook. My favorite thing is soup, especially in the winter!

Pets? SUNNY, my golden doodle! He is very smart and even smiles on command!

Favorite dental advice? Dental Prevention is key! Make sure you have your cleanings every 6 months!

Best sports team? Absolutely the Buffalo Bills! Waiting on a Superbowl…maybe next year? Buffalos players and fans are passionate and resilient! There is nothing else like them.
