On the 25th anniversary of September 11, the Shatkin F.I.R.S.T. family remembers and honors our colleague and friend, Rodney Leibowitz, DDS.

Sunny Jacoby and Lea Sutton placed a flag in Aesthetic Associate Centre’s 9/11 tribute in memory of Dr. Leibowitz, who worked with Shatkin F.I.R.S.T. and was known by so many of our colleagues throughout the dental community.

When Dr. Leibowitz learned that the first plane had struck the World Trade Center, he left his dental practice in Brooklyn and went to the site to help. He donated respirators and supported first responders and volunteers who worked tirelessly through the rescue and recovery efforts.

Dr. Leibowitz later suffered from illnesses related to the toxic debris that blanketed New York following the collapse of the Twin Towers. He passed away in 2018.

In 2017, he was honored with the Tri-State Award for his actions in the days following 9/11. For those of us who had the privilege of working with and knowing Rodney, his courage, generosity, and willingness to help others are an important part of the legacy he leaves behind.

Today, Shatkin F.I.R.S.T. joins our colleagues in remembering Rodney, all those who lost their lives on September 11, the families who lost loved ones, and the countless first responders, volunteers, and community members who answered the call to help.

God bless them all.

Rest in peace, Dr. Rodney Leibowitz. You are remembered and missed. 🇺🇸
