Jamie’s one of our wonderful team members who, among other things, greets you when you come through our doors.

We asked her a few fun questions about herself, and below are her answers. 👇

If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go and why?

- I would love to go back in time to relive all the years of my daughter growing up and really take the time to enjoy every moment. When they say time flies, especially with kids, they aren’t kidding. She is 23 years old now, and I feel like it all went so fast.

What are you most grateful for in your role at our company?
- I am most grateful for the fun, lighthearted atmosphere. I truly enjoy the patients and people I work with. I enjoy getting to know the patients each time they come in and helping them feel more comfortable, and hopefully putting a smile on their face. I truly appreciate how kind and caring everyone I work with is and that we all feel like family.

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?

- JUST HAVE FUN! When I used to run races, a friend told me, “Don’t be nervous, just have fun.” After that, anytime I was in a race, I tried smiling at the cameras, waving to people, giving high fives, and just having fun—trying not to put too much pressure on myself. After all these years, I still try to live that way every day. I like to have fun in life, at work, with family, and with friends.

We asked our hygienists, Kim, Krysti, Leslie C., Leslie F., Makenna, and Kolbi, if they were going to be stranded on Isle Royale, what one dental product they would take with them.

Krysti – Floss
Kim – an electric toothbrush with an unlimited battery. Or floss—it can also be used as a survival tool.
Leslie F. – An unlimited amount of floss. I could find or make something to brush with. However, there isn’t much else besides floss that can clean between the teeth.
Makenna – Floss! To keep the area between the teeth clean, and it can be used as string if needed.
Leslie C. – A toothbrush with toothpaste. Or floss to put things together.
Kolbi - Cocofloss, because life is already hard enough on a deserted island. I couldn't handle gum infection as well.

What an incredible day!

Our team recently took a day to reconnect outside of the office. We traversed (!) to Traverse City for some team bonding fun!

We enjoyed lunch, a walk on the beach, and a beautiful sunset cruise on the Nauti-Cat Cruises catamaran. Bonus: the weather was absolutely perfect. It was a gift we didn't waste and made count.

Dawn is celebrating 30 years with us this year, while Mackenzie is celebrating her second.

1996 and 2024 – two years that had identical calendar days, including leap year. And two years that each gave us outstanding dental assistants.

When it comes to dental care, prevention matters and costs less.

Research shows more than 40% of U.S. adults age 30-plus have some form of gum disease.

The best way to keep it from getting worse (and more costly) is through consistent preventive care, which includes regular dental checkups.

How do you recharge?
One of my favorite ways to unwind after a busy week is floating with little to no paddling, down the river in my kayak. Listening to the calming sound of the water and feeling the sun on my face hits the reset button for the week to come. Another way I love to unwind is to take a long drive to a new place. Plenty of music along the way with beautiful scenery to be seen really energizes my soul.

What’s a fun fact others might not know about you?
A fun fact about me is that I am an avid traveler. I have lived in 3 different states and have driven through 45 out of the 50 states. If you can’t find me, I am on the road to see something new and exciting.

What makes you grateful about working at Alma Heritage Dentistry?
The front desk team is what I am most grateful for in this role at Alma Heritage. They truly make work feel less like work and more like spending the day with good friends.
