This patient has a history of acid reflux disease (also known as gastroesophageal reflux or GERD). Among other issues, it caused severe damage to his teeth and oral health. Medication helped with the reflux and further damage to his teeth.

He spent two long days with us as we treated him by creating and adding posterior crowns, bonded veneers, and composites (tooth-colored fillings).

Untreated GERD can severely impact the quality of one’s life and lead to severe esophageal damage, tooth erosion, and more. If you are suffering, please see your doctor before it worsens.

Krysti’s been a hygienist with us since June 2004. We recently asked her a few questions and here are her answers. 🙂

AHD: What do you like to do when you’re not with your work family?
Krysti: I enjoy watching my boys’ sporting events and spending time with family and friends. I love going for walks and going camping. Nothing beats a Michigan summer!

AHD: If you won the lottery, what would you do?
Krysti: If I were to win the lottery, I would first go on vacation and soak up some sun and relax. We don’t get a lot of that this time of year in Michigan. After that, I would help people with dental needs. It’s so important to have dental care for overall health.

AHD: If you could have a superpower, what would it be?
Krysti: I would love to time travel. I am an old soul at heart and would love to visit the past. I love talking with patients about how they grew up in different times and find it all so fascinating.

AHD: We love that you keep bringing up the dental world in all your answers!
Krysti: I am so grateful to be part of AHD. Looking back, I love the fact that I have been able to call this home for over 20 years. I love how much I have grown as a hygienist and have made many great friends and met so many amazing patients throughout my journey. I love that my coworkers are like family and really enjoy helping patients achieve great dental health. I look forward to seeing my patients and hearing what has been happening in their lives. I enjoy all of the great stories I have heard throughout the years. We have such a strong, fun, and dedicated team. I want every patient to feel comfortable.

AHD: What’s the best piece of advice you’ve received?
Krysti: Don’t wish time away. Years ago, when my 3 boys were all young, I remember thinking the days were so long. Someone said: Don’t blink, time goes too fast. But I blinked, and now my boys are 16, 18, and 22. I try to always live in the moment and enjoy each day as it comes. Every day is truly a blessing.
