Every habit elimination patient is different but the process is still the same. This habit was tough to kick and took us 3 months to accomplish, but we did it! It’s amazing how the quick the body responds when obstacles are removed 👍🏻

One of my favorite cases! The shift in countenance of this child from the beginning of treatment until the end of treatment has been amazing to witness.
They have overcome a strong thumb sucking habit, drooling, severe allergies, and some extreme emotional sensitivities. This person left as a non-thumb sucker, nasal breather with allergies under control and a joy to be around. When people talk about their job being fulfilling, this is why😋

“So it turns out breathing is pretty important” one of my favorite quotes from Dr. Forgosh . This simple statement should be taken into account when considering the use of mouth tape. If you are a mouth breather it’s important to know that this is how your body is creating homeostasis. If you take away its main source of air without understanding WHY you can’t breathe through your nose you will run into some issues. After a full myo evaluation and making the proper referrals to specific airway providers and teaching a patient how to breathe through their nose during the day, then, we talk about mouth taping for sleep to build proper lip closure habits. There are many options out there for products on mouth taping, but this is my preferred method because it doesn’t cover the mouth at all. That way if a patient’s body is requiring air through the oral cavity it still can. This method takes the tension off the muscles of the obicularis oris to promote lip closure comfortably and safely.
