Haven’t been to the dentist in a while? Have some concerns about your teeth? Feel like your smile isn’t where you want it to be? We’ve got you!

Ever wonder why your hygienist calls out numbers while measuring your gums? 🧐

Those numbers tell us a lot about the health of your gums and the structures supporting your teeth!

Here’s a quick breakdown:

1–3 mm: Generally healthy! These measurements are typically associated with healthy gums when there’s no bleeding or other signs of inflammation.

4 mm: Time to take a closer look. This can indicate early signs of gum disease, especially if there’s bleeding or other signs of inflammation.

5 mm or more: Needs attention. Deeper pockets can indicate periodontal disease and may require additional evaluation or treatment.

What about bleeding? Bleeding during probing can be a sign of gum inflammation, even when the numbers are low.

Your hygienist measures several spots around each tooth because healthy gums are about more than just a number! We look at the measurements, bleeding, bone levels, and other factors to get the full picture.

So next time you hear us calling out numbers, you’ll know we’re checking in on the health of your smile!

Whitening toothpaste can help remove surface stains caused by things like coffee, tea, red w**e, and certain foods, helping your smile look brighter. 😃

But there’s a catch! It can’t change the natural color of your teeth or whiten deep/internal stains the way professional whitening can.

Think of whitening toothpaste as a great option for maintaining a brighter smile, not completely transforming the shade of your teeth.

Remember, more “whitening” doesn’t always mean better! Some formulas can be abrasive, so choosing the right toothpaste matters.
