Digital health and AI must be safe, ethical, interoperable, and equitable.

IADR emphasized that digital tools and can strengthen research, surveillance, early detection, and access to care, but must be safe, ethical, interoperable, and equitable.

Our statement, delivered by IADR Director of Science Policy Makyba Charles-Ayinde at , called for to be included in national digital health strategies, standards, workforce training, and research investments, with AI tools built on representative data, validated in diverse populations, and monitored over time.

Oral health care is an important setting for antimicrobial stewardship.

At , IADR emphasized that care is an important setting for antimicrobial stewardship. Including oral health in national AMR action plans can help reduce inappropriate antibiotic use, strengthen prescribing surveillance, and support equitable access to quality-assured when clinically needed.

IADR called for stewardship across all health professions, stronger surveillance, laboratory capacity, regulatory systems, research, and a One Health approach.

Oral health must be part of early-life nutrition.

In a joint WHA79 statement on Saturday, IADR and FDI World Dental Federation highlighted the link between oral health and maternal, infant, and young child nutrition, including the role of breastfeeding and reduced exposure to free sugars in preventing early childhood caries.

IADR and FDI called for stronger PHC integration, healthier early-life environments, implementation research, and improved data systems.

At WHA79, IADR led a broad constituency statement on primary health care delivered on behalf of IADR, Amref Health Africa, FDI World Dental Federation, Global Health Council, Global Health Partnerships, Global Self-Care Federation, International Diabetes Federation, International Federation of Biomedical Laboratory Sciences, International Society of Nephrology, Multiple Sclerosis International Federation, World Federation of Hemophilia, and World Obesity Federation.

The statement emphasized that there is No Health Without Oral Health and called on Member States to integrate essential oral health services into primary health care and universal health coverage, while embedding oral health in national monitoring, health information systems, and accountability frameworks.

The constituency also highlighted the links between oral health and systemic conditions, and emphasized that progress requires integrated and inclusive prevention-oriented systems, multidisciplinary workforces, community-based services, implementation research, and robust, disaggregated data systems.

WHA79 IADR Statement on Communicable Diseases
Agenda item 12.3: Immunization Agenda 2030 and NTD Road Map 2021–2030

IADR brought an oral health perspective to WHA79 discussions on communicable diseases, including immunization and neglected tropical diseases.

IADR called for strengthened HPV vaccination for both girls and boys as part of adolescent immunization and cancer prevention, including HPV-related oral and oropharyngeal cancers.

IADR also urged stronger noma prevention and control through financing, workforce capacity, research, early detection, treatment, and rehabilitation within primary health care.
