The World Health Organization (WHO) recently came out with recommendation to delay routine dental care although they acknowledge that there is no current data on the spread of coronavirus from the dentist's office.
The American Dental Association responded that maintaining oral health and treating oral disease is extremely important in systemic health. One thing to consider is the WHO recommendation is worldwide and fortunately most dental offices in the U.S. have high infection control standards compared to other areas of the world and are often safer than other public buildings.
I urge you not to delay in dental visits as the risks of progressive disease is high.
The American Dental Association (ADA) respectfully yet strongly disagrees with the World Health Organization’s (WHO) recommendation to delay “routine” dental care in certain situations due to COVID-19.
