Dr Chris Buttner
Dr Buttner was raised in Albuquerque and attended the Albuquerque Academy. He received his baccalaureate degree from the University of New Mexico obtaining a Bachelor of Science in biology and a minor in chemistry. He attended the respected University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Dentistry for his formal dental training and received his doctorate in 1990. He was immediately
accepted into a four year residency in oral and maxillofacial surgery at the University of Illinois at Chicago. After matriculating through residency he returned to Albuquerque and established a private practice. He is a diplomat of the prestigious American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and a diplomat of the National Dental Board of Anesthesiology. He is a member in good standing in multiple professional societies: the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, the American Dental Association, the American Dental Society of Anesthesiology, the Southwest Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, the New Mexico Dental Association, and the Albuquerque District Dental Society. Dr. Buttner is certified in advanced cardiac life support and basic life support for the healthcare professional. He maintains hospital privileges at Presbyterian Healthcare Services and The Women’s Hospital. He has served and continues to serve on multiple committees as a member of the active staff at these facilities. His current appointments at Presbyterian Healthcare Services are as a member of the credentials committee and the sub-committee for the advanced allied health practitioner. He, also, has served as the division chief of oral and maxillofacial surgery at both Presbyterian and the previous St. Dr. Buttner was elected to the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Dentistry Alumni Association Board of Trustees and Rhinehart Foundation Board of trustees where he served from 1998 to 2003. He currently is past president of the Alumni Association Board at the University of Missouri- Kansas City School of Dentistry. Recently he received the Rhinehart medallion for alumni recognition. He actively participates in the Horizon dental study club and is often requested to be a guest lecturer at an array of other dental study clubs. He received recognition by his peers as the “Top Dentists in Albuquerque; category of oral and maxillofacial surgery” in Albuquerque The Magazine in 2008, 2009 and 2010. He received the "Top Dentist recognition for oral pathology" in 2012. He participates as a provider to Donated Dental Services (a program to provide no fee dental service for community members unable to afford those services). He is a past member and president of the Active 20/30 club (a community based charity for young professionals). The father of two children spending his free time Skiing, hiking, fly-fishing and running with his wife and children.
