✨ Meet Shannon McMurtrey Knott, RDH! ✨

Shannon graduated from Boaz High School in 2021 and earned her Dental Hygiene degree from Wallace State Community College in 2025. After spending some time working in Huntsville, Shannon decided she wanted to bring her career back closer to home. Lucky for us, that brought her to Kirby-Cochran Dental, where she has been part of our team for almost a year!

Shannon is an excellent, compassionate hygienist who has a natural way of making her patients feel comfortable and cared for. Even if it’s your first appointment with her, she has a way of making you feel like she’s been taking care of your smile for years!

Outside of dentistry, Shannon is enjoying life as a NEWLYWED! 💍 She and her husband, Landon, tied the knot on September 26! When she’s not spending time with her new husband or their sweet pup, Dudley, Shannon enjoys being outdoors, finding new hobbies, and spending time with her family and friends. Most importantly, Shannon loves Jesus, and her faith is a big part of who she is!

Fun fact: Shannon has a love for traveling and exploring new places! ✈️🌎 She has a bucket list full of destinations she dreams of visiting and is always looking forward to her next adventure!

It doesn’t take years to become an important part of a team when you bring as much heart as Shannon does. She keeps us laughing, brings such a positive energy to the office, and has a genuine heart for her patients and coworkers. We are so thankful the Lord brought her our way!💙🦷

✨ Meet Matlyn Thornton — Dental Assistant! ✨

Matlyn graduated from Fyffe High School in 2019 and jumped right into the dental field, learning dentistry hands-on from the very beginning. She now has six years of dental experience and has been part of the Kirby-Cochran Dental team for almost two years!

Matlyn takes a lot of pride in what she does. She wants every patient she helps care for to feel comfortable, confident in their smile, and confident in the treatment they receive here. She pays attention to the details and takes her responsibility to our patients seriously.

Outside of the office, Matlyn is a country girl through and through! 🤠 She comes from a big family as one of four children and is a member of Cowboy Church of Marshall County. She also has a huge love for horses and competitively shows ranch horses! Most recently, she placed Top 20 at the Alabama State Show! 🐴

Matlyn has more than one hidden talent! She also regularly sings at church and has a beautiful voice. When she gets the chance, she loves traveling and seeing somewhere new.

Fun fact about Matlyn: she’s a twin!

As much as we appreciate the work Matlyn does, we appreciate the person she is just as much. She is dependable, loyal, takes pride in everything she does, and is the kind of coworker and friend who will always have your back.

Matlyn has become such an important part of our Kirby-Cochran family over the last two years, and we truly love having her on our team! 💙🦷

✨ Meet Lauren Landers, RDH! ✨

Lauren is a proud Guntersville Wildcat, graduating from Guntersville High School in 2019. She earned her Dental Hygiene degree from Wallace State Community College in 2023 and has been caring for patients at Kirby-Cochran Dental for almost two years!

Lauren is an excellent clinician and has quickly become such an important part of our team. One of the things she is most passionate about is patient education. She wants her patients to not only leave with a clean, healthy smile, but to truly understand their oral health, why it matters, and what they can do to take care of it.

Outside of the office, Lauren is all about her family! She and her husband, Trevor, have been married for three years, and her two nieces and three nephews are the absolute light of her life. Lauren and Trevor are also proud members of Highpoint Missionary Baptist Church.

• Fun fact about Lauren—she LOVES all things Universal Studios! 🎢✨ If there’s a vacation being planned, there’s a pretty good chance Universal is somewhere on the itinerary.

Lauren is one of those people you can simply count on. She is dependable, trustworthy, hardworking, and always willing to do her part. She is loved by both her coworkers and her patients, and we are so thankful to have her as such an important part of the Kirby-Cochran Center for Dental Health family! ❤️🦷

✨ Meet Laura Haynes, RDH — Office Manager! ✨

Laura graduated from Albertville High School in 2011 and began her career in dentistry in 2013 as a registered dental assistant. While assisting, she also learned everything she could about the insurance side of dentistry. In 2020, she obtained her hygiene license through the Alabama Dental Hygiene Program. Over the last 13 years, she has worn just about every hat there is to wear in a dental office—dental assistant, insurance specialist, registered dental hygienist, and now office manager.

That leads us to one of the running jokes around here: you never really know where you’re going to find Laura! She may be in her office working the business side of the practice, at the front desk, working through an insurance problem, jumping in to assist, or even filling in as a hygienist when we can talk her into it. And when one of the hard things comes up around the office… well, somehow it usually finds its way to her. 🤪

Through each role, Laura discovered that while she loves dentistry, her greatest strengths are connecting with people, solving problems, and helping a team work together. She believes that understanding the different roles within a dental office has helped her become a better manager. In 2022, the Lord led Laura to Kirby-Cochran Dental, and she is so thankful He gave her a place here!

Outside of dentistry, Laura has been married to her husband, Jacob, for 10 years, and they have a 7-year-old daughter, Crimson. Laura and Jacob are members of Highpoint Missionary Baptist Church. The Lord, her family, and her church are truly the center of her life. When she isn’t at work or church, you can almost guarantee she’s with her family. She has six nieces and one nephew that she loves very much! The Haynes family also loves being outdoors—hunting, fishing, and, most recently, building their new home! 🏡

If you work with Laura, you also know there is rarely a dull moment. She keeps us laughing, handles the things no one else wants to handle, and will jump into just about any role when the office needs her. She may technically be our office manager, but around here, “wherever she’s needed” might be the more accurate job description! ❤️🦷

✨ Meet Heather Rohlfs, RDH! ✨

Next up in our team introductions is one of the sweetest and most compassionate people you’ll ever meet—Heather! 🦷❤️

Heather graduated from Sardis High School in 2009 and earned her Dental Hygiene degree from Wallace State Community College in 2013. With 13 years in dental hygiene, Heather is no stranger to many of our longtime patients! She previously worked with Dr. Kirby and has now been part of Dr. Cochran’s team for five years.

Fun fact: Before making the switch to general dentistry, Heather spent six years working in pediatric dentistry—and if you know Heather, that probably comes as no surprise. Her patience, gentle nature, and ability to make people feel comfortable make her a natural at caring for patients of all ages.

These days, Heather describes herself as a full-time mom and part-time dental hygienist! After welcoming her youngest, who is almost two, she transitioned to part-time at the office so she could spend more time with her family. Between softball, dance, a busy toddler, and work, there’s rarely a dull moment! Heather and her husband, Jonathan, have been married for 13 years, and are proud members of Shady Grove Missionary Baptist Church.

🎂 Heather is our unofficial office birthday-cake baker because, simply put, Heather can throw down on a cheesecake! If there’s a birthday at Kirby-Cochran Dental, we’re all hoping Heather brought the cake. 👏🏻

But what we love most about Heather is her heart. She is genuinely one of the most compassionate people we know. She is always willing to jump in and help a coworker, lend a listening ear, or simply be there when someone needs her. Everyone needs a Heather in their life! ❤️
