The dreaded "Black Triangle Disease".
A 57 year old male with receding gums and narrow cervical areas of his lower front incisors presented with the complaint of large space between his lower front teeth. He wanted the quickest and cheapest fix, of course. Here are his before and after cosmetic bonding photos. A very acceptable result I would say.

Our very own Dr. Sandy Chen is getting ready to have her baby so our office threw a baby shower. Spoiler alert: It's a GIRL!! We did a pot luck and everyone brought a fabulous dish. The cupcakes were made by a patient. We played the game where we try to guess Sandy's size with TP. Dr. Rouleau won.

A little dental magic. Patient presented with a "black triangle" between her front teeth due to gum recession and the shape of her two front teeth. She also had the darker roots of the two teeth visible due to her gum recession. We bonded composite resin over the exposed roots and filled in the interdental space to reduce the "black triangle". These are the before and after treatment photos.

An Extreme Makeover, Dental Style
A 35 year old female came to us for dental treatment. Her chief concern was her dental appearance. She grew up with limited dental treatment and now that she has graduated from grad school and has an income, she wanted to receive comprehensive dental treatment to correct her dental issues. After a complete examination and dental cleaning, the next step was to have her see an orthodontist to correct her malocclusion. After two years of treatment by Dr. David W. Johnson, she returned to our practice for the final cosmetic bonding procedure on here upper and lower front teeth.

Here is the backstory: My partner is on vacation so I am covering for him. One of his patients called and said she broke her tooth eating lunch. The only time we have available to see her today is at the end of the day, 5 o'clock.

She presents with her left central incisor broken off under the gum tissue on the front side of the tooth and the pulp (nerve) exposed. She is not in pain unless something touches the tooth with the exposed nerve. We took a radiograph and the root looks healthy.

We needed a quick temporary fix until a permanent solution could be formulated. We extricated the pulp (nerve) and rinsed out the canal. A cotton pellet was placed in the top portion of the canal and covered with a cement to seal the canal. The patient's tooth was then bonded to the root and adjacent teeth. All occlusal contact was eliminated.

The patient was sent home able to smile again. Of course, she wears a masks so no one could see her smile anyway but she feels happier.

Replacement of an existing porcelain crown with black root showing. This old crown was placed 20+ years ago. the tooth has has had a root canal and the root has turn black over time. The old crown was remove and a plastic temporary crown was fabricated to allow for the gum to heal and to monitor the tooth. Along with the black root, this tooth was experiencing a resorbtive process. The resortion was treated by extending the crown preparation to cover the resorbed tooth structure and electo-surgery to cauterize the adjacent gingival tissues.
