Dr. Tom Browder grew up in the quiet countryside of rural Davie County in Advance. He went to Shady Grove Elementary and then graduated from Davie County High School. From there he went to Wake Forest University where he graduated in 1987. Dr. Browder received his dental education at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Dentistry. Our mission is to assist you in making informed decisions about your dental health, and give you the highest quality of treatment so you can achieve a long-lasting, healthy smile.

The Browder crowd is in Irvine, CA today on the campus of Glidewell Laboratories - the largest dental lab (by far) in the world. One of the special treats of this particular continuing education event is getting to hear my dental school classmate, business partner, and close friend Dr. Paresh Patel do his thing as a well-respected, international, dental education speaker. He started down this road close to 20 years ago and it has been a pleasure watching the success that he has had in this niche of dentistry. There are probably close to 250 people in this lecture and best as I can tell, nobody is asleep……yet! (I saved my straw and napkin from lunch and am prepared to zap anyone that dozed off with a spitball!)

Congratulations to one of our favorite couples - Alex and Tyler Sparks. We have had the pleasure of watching Alex over the years as a patient and then as one of our most-liked hygienists. We are still doing our best to coerce her back into the dental workforce, but this little guy (I’m afraid) has a little more influence on that decision than I do. Welcome to the world Gray Sparks. Gray joins his two older brothers and we share in this wonderful news with the Sparks and Smithdeal Family. We look forward to getting to know Gray - and his 32 teeth - in the coming years!

If the day seems a little more dreary than usual, it may be because the world lost one of its best characters yesterday afternoon when my Aunt, Sue Browder Folmar died yesterday at her home. She was truly the nicest person I ever met, and had everything else going her way as well. She was a great Mom, the perfect wife, a beautiful person (inside and out), the best sister (my Dad says!), and an unbelievable musician. When I was in high school, she decided to return to college to finish her degree in music. Her specialty was the organ, and I have seen her play some of the hardest pieces of music that were ever written. When she gave her senior recital, the chapel at Catawba, and its very large pipe organ, were on fire. She played Widor’s Toccata without a flaw at my wedding. She gave freely of her talents and her treasure and has never had a harsh word spoken about her. There is no doubt that Easter was picked by God as the day to bring her home. To say that she was a good and faithful servant is an understatement. I am a better person because of her and will miss her as will the entire Davie County community and anyone that ever came into contact with her.

It was one of the coldest winters on record in Chapel Hill, and we never turned the heat on, windows were open, and fans were blowing. But two weeks past due (as usual) we had the best present ever…..and for me, we got to turn the heat on finally! Happy 29th Dr. Tookstie Doodle!!

Nothing says Christmas like seeing this green camper setting up shop across from the office. Sugar Creek Nursery has been coming to this spot for at least as long as we have been practicing across the street. We get our tree here every year and they never disappoint. Tonight as I left the office there was a transfer truck backed up and it was being unloaded with some beautiful trees. You can find them on Highway 158 about 1/4 mile east of the 801/158 intersection. Their page has all their information on it.

Bringing smiles and laughter for 8 years, Digby gets better with every passing day! We gave him the day off today and he’s playing chuck-it as hard as he can.
