If we haven’t met, hi, I’m Esin 💚 Esin Yülek

I fix teeth, but most days, I’m really rebuilding trust.

I’m the dentist who slows down when everyone else speeds up. For the people who panic before an appointment, who apologise for being scared, or who’ve spent years believing they’re “difficult patients.”

Every one of them gets the same promise:

Raise your hand, and I stop.
Every time. No exceptions.

Because fear isn’t always about the procedure itself. Sometimes it’s about not knowing what’s coming, feeling trapped, or feeling like you’ve lost control.

And that’s the part of dentistry I care about just as much as the clinical work.

I moved from Istanbul to Amsterdam and rebuilt my career, my language, and my life from zero. Somewhere along the way, that changed the way I see people, patients, and what it actually means to feel safe.

So this page lives somewhere between those two worlds:
the psychology behind dentistry,
the way we actually talk to patients,
the human side of fear and trust,
and the honest reality of building a career and a life abroad.

If you’re here for the human side of dentistry, you’re in the right place.

And if you’re building your own path in this profession, I’m here for that too. DM me.

This looks like dentistry. Most of it isn’t.

Most of it is invisible: reading a nervous system while regulating your own. Making forty micro-decisions before a single word is spoken. Staying as precise for patient 19 as you were for patient 1.

The procedure is the visible ten percent. The rest is presence — and nobody teaches it, so we learn it the hard way, chairside.

That invisible layer is what I share here: the psychology of clinical work; communication, self-regulation, and staying human through full clinical days.

If we haven’t met — hi, I’m Esin Yülek 👋 A dentist since 2015. At 30, I pause my career in Istanbul and rebuilt it from scratch in the Netherlands: new language, new system, same profession — seen with new eyes.

If you’re a patient-facing clinician — dentistry, medicine, physio, nursing — this page is for you. Follow along for the parts of the work no one talks about.

I used to think trust was built in the explanation — the better I explained, the more they’d say yes. Then I noticed a pattern: on the days my attention was split (a glance at the clock, eyes drifting to the screen, half-listening while planning the next patient), people got quieter. More hesitant. Suddenly they “wanted to think about” a treatment they would have accepted an hour earlier.

No one ever said you made me feel unimportant. They just quietly stopped trusting me. A patient who doesn’t feel important doesn’t argue — they delay, they don’t rebook, they don’t come back.

Since many of you are new here — I’m Esin. A dentist from Istanbul, now practicing in the Netherlands, and quietly obsessed with the part of clinical work nobody teaches us: what happens between two nervous systems in one room. Chairside Choreography is the framework I’m building around exactly that — the patient side and the clinician side of a calm appointment. This is part 02; part 01 is on my feed.

Be honest 👇 have you ever left a dentist because you felt like just a number?

**If we haven’t met yet — hi. 👋**

At 30 I moved countries and started from zero. Learned a new language as an adult. I work a full clinical week, I’m fluent in three languages and read in five. I built a whole life here from nothing — without ever letting go of home, or the life I still have back there.

And I’m not done. Alongside my patients, I’m building something new — still deep in the messy, hands-on, make-it-real phase.

So no, the accent was never the story. Everything behind it is.

Cool girls really do have cool jobs indeed
But also... if we haven’t met yet — hi, I’m Esin.
A dentist in the Netherlands who cares less
about perfect teeth and more about the person
sitting in the chair.
I share the real side of this work - the
psychology, the tired weeks, the human behind the mask.
Follow if that’s your kind of thing

Scrubs all day, but I refuse to look boring and it doesn't matter if I clock in or out

Tell me I’m not the only clinician living a double life, practical at work, fully myself the moment I step outside.
Is it just me, or do you do this too? 👀
