A Natural, Permanent Smile Transformation ✨

Our lovely patient presented with a gummy smile caused by delayed passive eruption, a condition where the gums do not recede to their natural position after tooth eruption, leaving the teeth looking shorter and the gum line overly visible.

To correct the underlying cause (rather than masking it with repeated Botox), I performed aesthetic crown lengthening, including:

✔ Gingivectomy
✔ Osteotomy to reposition the bone to its proper biological level

This allowed the natural clinical crown height to be revealed and restored proper tooth–gingiva proportions.

The results:
👉 Longer, naturally balanced teeth
👉 Improved gingival symmetry
👉 And most importantly: She will no longer need Botox for her gummy smile, as the etiological problem has now been definitively corrected.

When gum recession exposes the root surface, the area loses its natural enamel protection and becomes prone to sensitivity and caries.❗️If an aberrant frenum attachment is present, the recession often progresses further❗️. By removing the aberrant frenum, the area becomes more stable and easier to maintain. Surgical options such as Free Gingival Graft or Connective Tissue Graft can help restore healthy attached tissue and prevent future recession.🌿🦷

Did you know that advanced gum disease (periodontitis) can cause bone loss around your teeth? If left untreated, this can lead to tooth mobility and even tooth loss. But the good news is that modern periodontal regenerative techniques can help restore lost bone and support your teeth.
Our lovely patient had a severe bone defect in a difficult-to-reach area at the back of the mouth. This region is naturally hard to clean, making it more prone to plaque buildup over time. Due to chronic disease progression, subgingival plaque had settled deep into the tissues, leading to significant bone loss.

We first performed non-surgical therapy to control the infection, followed by regenerative surgery using enamel matrix derivative (EMD) and bone grafting.

Scientific research supports that regenerative treatments can lead to better long-term outcomes, healthier gums, and stronger tooth attachment compared to standard surgical cleaning alone.

🪥 Oral hygiene plays a crucial role in preventing periodontal disease progression. Areas that are difficult to clean require extra attention to stop plaque from accumulating and causing further bone loss. Brushing, flossing, and regular dental check-ups are key to maintaining long-term gum health and preserving treatment results.

Periodontitis is one of the main causes for tooth loss. Nevertheless, like in every medical therapeutic intervention, biological complications occur, which may finally lead to complete implant failure and consequently—in the worst case—to the removal of the implant. Peri-implantitis shows to be the main reason for late implant failure.
Most late-failing implants are not mobile and remain at least partially osseointegrated in the very apical aspect. The attempt to remove the implants can therefore still be very challenging.
In our case, inadequate bone height and width was clearly visible in his CBCT. So following the removal of focally infected dental implant and his natural tooth, in the course of bone graft surgery for horizontal and vertical bone augmentation both the patient’s own bone (autogenous bone) and bone graft material was used. Following the augmentation of the height and width of the bone, the bone grafted area is covered with a non-resorbable membrane, fastened by means of titanium pins
Therefore, just like with natural teeth, it’s important to have good oral health for your dental implants. Be sure to keep your implant clean and free from microbial biofilm ( plaque). Use a toothbrush, floss, or a water irrigator to remove microbial plaque.
