MISSING TOOTH AND IMPLANTS ?
Our first aim is always to preserve and protect healthy teeth but, if you already have quite a few missing, we can fill the gaps with implants and crown the remaining ones to complete your new, full-mouth smile.
When you visit us for your consultation, we will first check your X-ray to see which teeth are healthy and which are loose or unhealthy.
This will include surgeons expert analysis of the following:
• Healthy teeth: These are the remaining ones which have a healthy root and are surrounded by healthy gums which can either remain as they are or be crowned to complete your new smile.
• Teeth which require attention: These include teeth affected by a root canal infection or gum disease which, with the right treatment, could still be preserved and then crowned if required. Patients requiring root canal treatment will be seen by our specialist endodontist.
Alternatively, our cosmetic dentists will deal with cavities while periodontologist treat gum infections.
• Loose or mobile teeth: Wobbly or insecure teeth will probably require extraction in future anyway so will be removed and replaced. Implant-supported crowns will be inserted both for aesthetic reasons and to restore the patient’s chewing.
• Missing teeth: Implants and implant-supported crowns and bridges will be inserted to provide the patient with a full-mouth smile and to fill any existing gaps. The number of implants required will depend on the position of the missing teeth and the condition of the jawbone at the sites where they are required. However, it’s important to understand, if you have three missing teeth in a row, it doesn't mean you will require three implants. Implant-supported crowns and bridges offer 100% function and aesthetically pleasing results so two implants and three crowns may well be enough.
