Veneers can be a great option for a smile makeover or to fix a cosmetic correction. There are mainly two types of veneers: Porcelain and composite veneers. Many patients have asked us which is the better option? This is often a difficult question to answer as there are many factors to consider.

Time ⌛️

Composite veneers in general take a shorter time than porcelain veneers. Composite veneers generally take 1-2 visits while porcelain veneers may take 2-4 visits.

Cost 💰

Composite veneers tend to be about 50% cheaper than porcelain veneers

Porcelain Veneers tend to result in a greater cosmetic outcome. Porcelain veneers involve a master ceramist who is known to have an artistic eye for details. Lighter shades are also more available for porcelain veneers. Each veneer is customised to compliment your skin tone, provide adequate lip support and to enhance your smile.

Maintenance 🪥

Porcelain veneers do not stain with coffee, wine or tea. Some stains do get more easily picked up with composite veneers. A 6 monthly maintenance of both composite and porcelain veneers is a great way to maintain long lasting results.

Sometimes 🤔 No Veneers is a good option too. Veneers are not meant for everyone. Sometimes an alternative treatment of scaling & polishing, home whitening or simple composite bonding is all that is needed to brighten up your smile.
