Tooth sensitivity, also known as dentin hypersensitivity, is a dental problem wherein individuals experience unpleasant sensations to eating and drinking hot, sweet, cold, and acidic foods 😬

It occurs when the tooth's enamel wears down and exposes the sensitive hollow tubes of the dentin.

Other causes of teeth sensitivity to keep an eye out for:
💢 Aggressive tooth brushing
💢 Gum recession
💢 Exposed nerve endings
💢 Cracked tooth
💢 Regular teeth grinding
💢 Improper oral hygiene

Although there may be home remedies for tooth sensitivity, a visit to the dentist is very helpful in determining the root cause and the appropriate treatment for you 👍

🦷 How do you know when you have tooth decay and what to do about it? 🤔

Tooth decay is damage to the tooth’s surface. It is often caused by consuming sugary food & drinks.

If left untreated, it can cause cavities or holes in the teeth, which may lead to toothache, teeth sensitivity, and the appearance of white, brown or black spots on the tooth.

In certain scenarios, it can also cause an infection or lead to tooth loss. But fret not; there are several treatment options for tooth decay, depending on its severity.

▪️ For typical tooth decay, our dentist can perform a filling. This process involves removing the decayed tooth tissues and replacing them with a filling material.

On the other hand, if the damage spreads to the pulp or inside of the tooth, we can do a root canal procedure 👍🏻

However, if the tooth decay is severe, we may need to extract the tooth and replace it with a bridge or an implant.

✔️ You can visit our clinic for a consultation to identify if you have tooth decay, its severity and the treatment options available

🎄 After the holiday season, a dental visit might be necessary to keep tooth decay and gum disease at bay.

Before going to the dentist, do not ignore home oral care strategies.

🦷 You should regularly brush & floss your teeth, and rinse your mouth after every meal. These can help ensure you get rid of the plaque responsible for tooth decay.
