The patient came to our clinic after previous dental work performed elsewhere, where the teeth had already been aggressively prepared and the vertical dimension of occlusion (DVO) and bite relationship were not properly balanced.
In our clinic, we finalized the treatment on the frontal area with definitive ceramic crowns, while on the lateral areas we increased the bite using provisional restorations in order to re-establish a more correct functional occlusion.
At this stage, the patient will remain for approximately one month with the temporary lateral restorations so we can evaluate adaptation to the new DVO, muscle response, joint comfort, phonetics, and overall function before continuing with the final rehabilitation.
A full-mouth rehabilitation is not only about shaving teeth and creating a whiter smile. Functional stability, occlusion, joint balance, and long-term comfort are equally important as aesthetics.
For this type of complex rehabilitation, successful treatment also depends on good patient collaboration, patience during the adaptation phase, and respecting the recommended treatment stages before proceeding to the final restorations.
