New research confirms that the world's oldest known dental procedures were performed around 9,000 years ago at Mehrgarh in present-day Pakistan, where ancient people drilled teeth to treat decay.

Archaeologists found nine drilled teeth, with evidence suggesting primitive fillings and possible use of o***m or medicinal plants for pain relief.

The discovery pushes the origins of dentistry back by 4,000 years and highlights Mehrgarh's role as a cradle of early human innovation.
