Japanese researchers are on the verge of a huge breakthrough in dental medicine with the development of a drug that can regenerate human teeth.

Spearheaded by Toregem Biopharma, this innovative treatment targets the USAG-1 gene, which inhibits tooth growth, thereby enabling the development of new teeth from existing buds.

The drug, which has shown promising results in animal trials, is set to begin human clinical trials in 2024, starting with adults with congenital tooth loss.

If successful, this drug could transform dental care by providing a natural alternative to dentures and implants, potentially available by 2030.
