I quit my job.

And saying that out loud still feels strange.

For the longest time, I thought being able to do everything was something I should be proud of.

“You’re so good at multitasking.”
“You manage so much.”
“I don’t know how you do it.”

And honestly, I loved hearing that.

It made me feel capable. Important. Strong.

So I kept taking on more.

Work. Family. Kids. Responsibilities. My own dreams… everything.

Until one day I realized…

Maybe multitasking wasn’t my talent.

Maybe it was slowly exhausting me.

When everyone praises you for how much you can handle, you don’t always notice that you’re running yourself into the ground.

You just keep going.

Until your body says, “I can’t do this anymore.”

So I quit.

Not because I wasn’t capable.

But because I finally understood that being capable of carrying everything doesn’t mean I have to carry everything.

Right now, I’m choosing my health.

I’m making space for the things that matter.

And, for once, I’m choosing to take care of myself too.

Maybe this isn’t me giving up.

Maybe this is me finally listening to myself.

Because I don’t want to be praised for being strong while silently falling apart. 🤍

Have a dental crown and an upcoming MRI? 🦷

Most dental crowns are generally safe in an MRI, but metal-containing restorations may sometimes cause image distortion—especially during scans of the head, face or jaw.

Always tell the MRI team about your dental work beforehand, particularly if your crown is temporary, loose or made from an unknown material. If you feel heat, pain or a pulling sensation during the scan, alert the staff immediately.

A secure dental crown is not normally pulled out by an MRI—but when in doubt, always ask your dentist or MRI team.

Vomiting exposes your teeth to strong stomach acids, temporarily softening the enamel. Brushing immediately afterwards can actually rub that acid into the enamel and increase surface damage.

Instead, rinse your mouth gently with water and give your teeth some time before brushing — ideally around 30–60 minutes.

A small habit, but an important one for protecting your enamel. 🦷

Not every dentist’s journey follows the same path—and that’s okay.

Maybe you’re living abroad and still working towards your licensing exam. Maybe you’re a parent who wants more flexibility. Maybe life has taken you in a different direction, and returning to chairside practice isn’t possible right now.

Your dental degree is still valuable.

Dentistry is evolving, and so are the opportunities within it.

Digital Dentistry & CAD/CAM is one of the fastest-growing fields where dentistry meets technology. It allows dentists to use their clinical knowledge in a different way—designing digital restorations, collaborating with dental laboratories and clinics, and, in many roles, working remotely.

This post isn’t about encouraging anyone to leave clinical dentistry. If you have the opportunity to practise clinically and you love it, that’s a wonderful career. This series is for those who are searching for another path while staying connected to the profession they worked so hard to join.
