A challenging case involving an impacted lower right wisdom tooth that resulted in damage to the adjacent second molar. The second molar presented with a pulp stone, making endodontic treatment more complex. Ultrasonic instruments were used in an attempt to remove the pulp stone, but due to its position, treatment was carried out without complete removal.
Three weeks after the impaction surgery, the distal wall of the second molar was reconstructed and root canal treatment was completed in a single appointment. The patient returned today for a six month follow up, and radiographs taken at different angulations showed complete healing with no signs of infection. Clinically, the soft tissues have healed well, and the gingiva has returned to a healthy and normal appearance.
Cases like these highlight the importance of careful planning, preservation of compromised teeth, and long term follow up to ensure successful outcomes.
