ICS TRAINING IS ONGOING - at Rehab Initiative(RI)

RI is currently conducting a hands-on training on Ischial Containment Socket Design for Transfemoral Prosthesis scheduled from 6-10 April 2026.

This training is organised by RI in collaboration with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), with participants from CHAL Foundation, Khyber Medical University (KMU) Peshawar, PIPOS, and KP Health.

The program focuses on enhancing clinical competencies in advanced socket design to improve fit, comfort, and functional outcomes for individuals with transfemoral amputation.

RI remains committed to strengthening the capacity of professionals from ICRC partner centers and academic institutions, while advancing the quality and scope of Prosthetics & Orthotics services across Pakistan.

Day 1st & Day 2nd of the Early Rehabilitation in Emergency (ERIE) training scheduled 8-12 DEC 2025, sessions were successfully conducted at Rehab Initiative (RI).
An interactive learning environment and orientation visit to RI set a strong foundation for the hands-on hospital sessions ahead.

Rehab Initiative (RI) and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) joined hands to host a special visit for the spouses of representatives from various diplomatic missions in Pakistan on 25th April' 2024.
The event, held at the Rehab Initiative headquarters, welcomed esteemed guests from Belgium, Japan, Denmark, Thailand, and Jordan on Thursday.

The primary objective of the event was to showcase the collaborative efforts between ICRC and Rehab Initiative in enhancing the quality of physical rehabilitation services across Pakistan. Participants were given the unique opportunity to witness firsthand the transformative impact of these initiatives on persons with disabilities and the broader community.

For over four decades, the ICRC has been at the forefront of the Physical Rehabilitation Programme (PRP), supporting and empowering people with disabilities in Pakistan. The event guests were warmly received by Chairman of RI, Dr. Bakht Sarwar, Mr. Ahmad AL-MOSA, Manager of ICRC's PRP program in Pakistan, Chief Executive Officer of RI Mr. Sirajul Haq Ghouri, alongside their dedicated staff.

Reflecting on the journey of the physical rehabilitation program, Dr. Bakht Sarwar and Mr. Ahmad AL-MOSA expressed their gratitude, stating, "Our partnership with organizations such as Rehab Initiative has made a significant difference in improving access to top-tier rehabilitation services for people with disabilities, facilitating their integration into society."

With a mission to enhance mobility and foster active participation in society, the RI has positively impacted the lives of over 154,665 individuals in the past decade alone.

The Chairman, Board of Directors and C.E.O, BRSP, visited the Rehab Initiative on 20th Dec' 23. They acknowledged the efforts of ICRC and Rehab Initiative in general. Both organizations looked for collaboration in Baluchistan to address disability and looked forward to having resource mobilization for the oppressed and marginalized communities of the province.

Dr. Muhammad Imran, C.E.O., ACE Institute of Medical and Emerging Sciences, and National Institute of Health Professional Studies visited RI on 15th Dec' 23. We agreed upon collaborating in the future and agreed to start a diploma course for Technicians in the field of Prosthetics and orthotics at our new premises. We also agreed to arrange practicum for their students from its faculty from Lahore. RI will offer these courses under the charter of their university. Hope this venture gonna go well in the future.
