A remarkable step forward in forensic sciences!

For the first time in Peshawar, a Forensic Odontology Workshop was conducted by Dr. wahaj Anees.

We often hear about forensic medicine, but this workshop introduced us to the fascinating field of forensic Odontology, where teeth become crucial evidence in medico-legal investigations.

🦷 One of the key concepts we explored was Forensic Age Estimation —
the scientific process of determining a person’s age (living or deceased) for legal, medical, and identification purposes.

📌 But why is it important?
Because it plays a vital role in:
• Identification of unknown bodies
• Determining criminal responsibility (minor vs adult)
• Immigration and asylum cases
• Child labor and early marriage issues
• Sports age verification

📊 During the workshop, we learned how dental methods like Demirjian, Willems, and London Atlas are used for age estimation through OPGs.
📄 We also gained hands-on knowledge of how to write proper medico-legal age estimation reports, an essential skill in real forensic practice.

This experience was truly eye-opening showing us how dentistry goes far beyond clinics and plays a critical role in the justice system.
