Single arch orthodontics a treatment or quackery??

بہت سے ہمارے ڈینٹل ٹیکنیشن اور ہمارے اکثر جنرل ڈینٹل پریکٹیشنرBDS ارتھو ڈنٹک ٹریٹمنٹorthodontic treatment سنگل ارچ کرتے ہیں یعنی بریسزbraces صرف اوپر ارچonly upper arch میں لگاتے ہیں اور وہ بھی کچھ کیسز میں صرف اگے والوں دانتوں (canine to canine)پر بریکٹ لگاتے ہیں کیا یہ ٹریٹمنٹ ہے یا یہ ایک پروفیشنل کوکری ہے؟
اورمارکیٹ میں کچھ تو ایسی بھی ہیں کہ وہ پیسے پورے لیتے ہیں لیکن علاج ادها کرتے ہیں
سنگل ارچ تھریٹمنٹ سے کیا ہوتا ہے اس کی کیا کیا نقصانات ہو سکتے ہیں میں نے chatGPT سے کچھ میٹریل کاپی کی ہے وہ پڑھ لے ۔۔
Single-arch orthodontic treatment (maxillary arch only) is relatively uncommon because tooth movement in one arch can affect the bite. However, it may be indicated in selected cases such as:

1. Mild maxillary anterior crowding when the mandibular arch is well aligned and occlusion is acceptable.

2. Spacing in the maxillary arch (e.g., diastema closure) with a stable lower arch.

3. Correction of isolated maxillary tooth malpositions such as a rotated, tipped, or ectopically erupted tooth.

4. Relapse after previous orthodontic treatment limited to the upper arch.

5. Pre-restorative treatment to create space or align teeth before prosthodontic or restorative procedures.

6. Crossbite involving one or a few maxillary teeth where lower arch treatment is unnecessary.

7. Patients with acceptable intercuspation and a stable lower arch where treatment goals can be achieved without altering mandibular tooth positions.

Contraindications

Maxillary-only treatment is generally not recommended when there is:

Significant overjet or overbite discrepancy.

Class II or Class III malocclusion requiring occlusal correction.

Moderate to severe crowding in both arches.

Need for comprehensive bite correction.

Significant midline discrepancies involving both arches.

The key principle is that the lower arch and overall occlusion must already be acceptable, and the treatment objective should be limited to problems confined to the maxillary arch

No more quackery.
تقریباً 60 سال کا مریض ہمارے ڈینٹل او پی ڈی میں ایک زخم کے ساتھ تشریف لائے.جب ہم نے معائنہ کیا تو اس کے منہ میں removable denture موجود تھا اور یہ ڈینچر تقریباً تین سال سے اسی طرح منہ میں پڑھا تھا اور انہوں نے اتارا نہیں تھا جس نے دانت لگایےتھے اس نے بھی شاید یہ نہیں کہا ہوگا کہ یہ تو اتارنا چاہیے یہ تو صاف کرنا چاہیے ، اور ہم نے اسی طرح بہت سارے مریض دیکھے ہیں جو کہ ڈینچر کو self cure acrylic کے ساتھ فکس fixed کرتے ہے اور یہ بالکل بھی recommended نہیں ہیں اس سے کینسر squamous cell carcinoma لگ سکتا ہیں لہذا جب بھی دانت لگانے ہوں تو ایک کوالیفائیڈ ڈینٹل سرجن سپیشلسٹ کے پاس جایا کرے۔مریض کو further treatment کے لیے maxillofacial department refer کر دیا ۔شکریہ
