What is RPE?

A Rapid Palatal Expander (RPE) is a fixed orthodontic appliance designed to gradually widen the upper jaw (palate) by applying gentle, controlled pressure over time. This process helps guide proper jaw development, especially in growing children.

Why is this important?
When the upper jaw is too narrow, it can lead to crowding, crossbite, and even breathing concerns. Expansion creates the space needed for teeth to align naturally and function properly.

How it works:
A small screw in the appliance is adjusted regularly, allowing the palate to slowly expand in a safe and effective way.
