Your oral health is part of your overall health

Many parents underestimate how important oral health is during childhood, but untreated dental problems can affect eating, speaking, sleep, confidence, and overall well-being. Severe tooth decay may lead to infections, discomfort, and long-term complications if ignored for extended periods. Health experts emphasize that regular brushing, healthy eating habits, fluoride use, and routine dental visits play a major role in preventing serious dental issues in children.

In some cases, ongoing failure to provide necessary dental treatment may be viewed as medical neglect when it seriously harms a child’s health or development. Early prevention and timely care help children maintain healthier teeth, stronger habits, and better overall health throughout life.

How do you maintain good health?
-Is it with the food we eat?
-is it with the lifestyle we do?
-or is it with doing both?

Practicing and balancing both will be the best thing to gain good health. Every individual has its own nutritional needs based on age groups, health status and environment. We can eat healthy food and have no sleep then say it's maintaining good health, no that’s not the case of balancing. It’s a long and wide range of topics. The basics would be knowing your body and what it needs for daily nutrition. As a healthy individual you maintain your Go, Grow, and Glow with enough sleep, body functions with proper ergonomics, not forgetting mental, emotional and spiritual health. As for people with medical needs they would need to add a correct maintenance medicine, supplements and other indicated treatments. A good health is maintained from head to toe. That I would remind you not to take for granted your oral health. The mouth is the main opening of our body, goes to your stomach and travels to your blood streams. It's near the vital organs of the body, the brain and our heart. Oral health is one of the main factors of overall health. Don’t keep decaying teeth, dirty tongue, bleeding gum, pain in the oral cavity and its surrounding structures, that is not normal nor healthy. To end this with a cliche “Prevention is a cure” and “Health is wealth”. A blessing that we should be seeing and be grateful about is the good health we have everyday. 💜

Kailan ka huling pumunta sa iyong Dentista?

Nakapag palinis ka na ba ng ipin?

Note:

Right picture. Nalinisan na ipin

And have dental restoration as early as possible (habang maliit pa ang sira at butas sa ipin ay ipaayos na at palagyan ng pasta). Hwag hayaan lumala o hintayin lumaki.

Hwag hintayin sumakit!

Hwag mag alaga ng bulok na ipin.

A growing body of research is revealing a surprising link between gum disease and breast cancer.

Scientists have identified a common oral bacterium associated with periodontitis inside breast cancer tissue, raising important questions about how oral health may influence diseases beyond the mouth.

Recent findings suggest this bacterium can move from the oral cavity to the breast, most likely through the bloodstream or mammary ducts—reaching areas once considered completely separate.

Once it reaches breast tissue, it does not remain inactive. It can adapt to the tumor environment and persist within cancer cells, interacting with surrounding tissues.

Laboratory evidence indicates that this gum disease–related bacterium may contribute to tumor growth and progression by affecting both cancer cells and the immune system.

This does not mean gum disease causes breast cancer. However, it highlights a possible biological connection that deserves closer attention.

Oral health is closely linked to overall health. Managing gum disease is not just about protecting your teeth—it may also help reduce systemic inflammation and broader health risks.
