Remember, my dear patients, that it is not JUST a baby tooth, but a baby tooth that is a part of your child's body that must be properly cared for. It should not be ignored simply because it will be replaced soon; failing to care for it can affect your child's health.
Dental care is not expensive, but neglect is.
Visit your dentist as soon as the first tooth erupts!
Dentist: “Mommy, your child needs complete oral rehab. We have to save whatever we can save and we need to let go of the hopeless ones. We’ll do pulp treatment and crowns, restorations, extractions and fabrication of ortho maintainers later on. We suggest that the child be treated under sedation. The cost would be around Php1xx,### (+)
Mommy: “Ang mahal naman doc. Di ba pwede pastahan na lang?”
D: Hindi na po kaya, Mommy. These are the most practical and ethical solutions po for the case of **** (patient’s name).”
M: “Ba’t naman ganun kamahal? Yung murang option lang doc, masyado naman po yan. Wala po bang way para mas makamura?”
Dentist: “Meron po. But it should’ve been done 2 years ago; nung inadvise ko po kayo to get sealant and fluoride treatment for your child.” (Shows dental record with parent’s sign on refusal to get treatment)
Mom: …..
📌 Parents should stop blaming doctors for the fees incurred by their negligence and noncompliance.
Stop going around bashing and posting online about doctors saying “pera-pera lang mga doctor at dentista na yan” while you tap on your latest iPhone.
You know, you may look rich but you’re cheap and irresponsible for flexing your stuff while your kid suffers chronic dental abscess and can’t even bite a bread.
REAL TALK.
So the next time your doctor advises you to take preventive treatments, know that comes with it is genuine concern for your health and for your pocket.
Just a friendly reminder.
