Canines are often called the cornerstones of the smile. Beyond their appearance, they play a vital role in canine guidance—helping protect the other teeth during side-to-side jaw movements, distributing biting forces properly, and contributing to a stable, functional bite.
In this case, the impacted canine was 𝙨𝙪𝙧𝙜𝙞𝙘𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙮 𝙚𝙭𝙥𝙤𝙨𝙚𝙙 and 𝙤𝙧𝙩𝙝𝙤𝙙𝙤𝙣𝙩𝙞𝙘 𝙩𝙧𝙖𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 was performed to gently guide it into its proper position. With careful planning, controlled orthodontic forces, and patience, we were able to preserve the patient’s natural tooth instead of replacing it.
Early diagnosis is key. If a permanent canine is delayed in erupting, don’t wait. Timely intervention can improve the chances of bringing the tooth into alignment and preserving both function and esthetics.
Every natural tooth is worth saving whenever possible—and every healthy bite starts with proper guidance.
