Ilang mga payo may virus man o wala:
1. Maligo dalawang beses sa isang araw

This is the most common misconception we hear in the clinic. If you believe that those little pearls don't do anything important, then why are you here for a consultation?

Oh yes, is it because your little one did not have a good night sleep due to toothache and having a nice sleep is important perhaps?
Or is it because your child has brown/black teeth and he/she is very shy to smile in front of everyone else?
Or maybe because your child is feeling something in his/her mouth that he/she cannot even describe hence, doesn't want to eat? Maybe having proper nutrition is important?

Our dear parents, the answers are already in front of us. Let us help you take care of those baby teeth before it is too late. Have a consultation with your dentist when the first tooth erupts or even while you are still pregnant. Be armed with information when your precious little one comes out and help us fight dental cavities :)

Ignoring oral health just because first teeth are going to fall out can lead to a lifetime of dental problems.

If you think that baby teeth are temporary, and therefore, not important? Well, think again.

Healthy baby teeth will usually result in healthy permanent teeth. Children who constantly drink from bottle is at higher risk of developing baby bottle tooth decay also known as "early childhood caries." It is a common problem among children under the age of five but can be avoided through awareness and prevention such as:

• Wipe your baby's gums with a clean, damp gauze pad or washcloth after feeding.

• Never let your baby fall asleep with a bottle filled with milk, juice, or soda in their mouth.

• Teach your child to drink from a cup by the age of 1 and discourage frequent or prolonged use of a training or sippy cup.

• Never give your child a pacifier dipped in anything sweet.

• Limit the amount of sweet or sticky foods your child eats.

• When your child’s first tooth appears, brush it with fluoride toothpaste and talk to your dentist about scheduling the first dental visit.

Early prevention is the key to a lifetime of good dental health. Parents play a very important role in protecting a child's teeth, and your dentist is your partner in taking care of your child's oral health. Visit your dentist now!

COMMON CLINIC PROBLEM

Last week, a mom brought his son to my clinic with a chief complaint of poor appetite for almost 6 months. The mother was concerned with his son’s poor weight gain but history revealed that the patient was, in fact, not a picky eater. The patient’s weight is slightly below normal for his age (based on z-score) but his height and body mass index were both normal. On examination, the patient was essentially unremarkable until i examined his oral cavity...

Dahil dito, ang Pilipinas ay itinuturing na may ‘worst oral health in the world’.

Thank you,
