When patients hear the word “radiation,” it often causes unnecessary concern. However, modern dental X-rays are among the safest medical imaging tools used today. The amount of radiation is extremely small—comparable to everyday sources we barely notice. For example:

Eating a banana exposes you to natural radiation from potassium; a single dental X-ray delivers about the same amount as eating a few bananas.

Spending a few minutes in sunlight actually exposes you to more radiation than a dental X-ray.

A short airplane flight exposes you to several times more radiation than a full set of dental X-rays.

Advances in technology have made dental X-rays even safer. Older film-based X-rays required higher radiation doses, but today’s digital sensors reduce exposure by up to 90% while producing clearer, more detailed images. These improvements help dentists catch problems earlier and treat them more effectively.

Dentists also take multiple safety measures to protect you, including using lead aprons, thyroid collars, and strictly following the ALARA principle—keeping radiation “As Low As Reasonably Achievable.” This means X-rays are only taken when necessary for diagnosis or treatment planning, never without a clear purpose.

In short, the radiation from dental X-rays is minimal, carefully controlled, and far outweighed by the benefits of early detection. Rather than posing a risk, dental X-rays are a vital tool for maintaining your teeth, jaw, and overall health.

👶Leaving cavities in baby teeth untreated is like planting decay in the next set of teeth.🦷

Cavities in baby teeth are often misunderstood. Many parents assume that since milk teeth eventually fall out, they don’t need much attention. But this is one of the biggest mistakes in children’s oral care.

Baby teeth are not just temporary placeholders—they protect the permanent teeth developing right beneath them. When decay is left untreated, the infection doesn’t stop at the surface; it can spread deep inside the tooth, into the roots, and even affect the permanent teeth waiting to erupt.

The truth is, cavities in milk teeth are not harmless. An untreated infection in a baby tooth can create abscesses, damage the surrounding bone, and allow bacteria to reach the underlying permanent tooth bud. This can lead to enamel defects, weak spots, or even early decay in the permanent teeth before they even emerge. In some cases, the infection can spread further, causing pain, swelling, and serious health complications that no child should ever go through.

Baby teeth play an essential role in guiding permanent teeth into the correct position, helping with chewing, speech, and proper jaw development. Losing them too early due to cavities disrupts this balance, often resulting in misalignment or orthodontic problems later in life. Ignoring cavities may seem like saving time or money now, but in reality, it sets the stage for bigger dental challenges in the future.

Parents need to remember: caring for milk teeth is caring for the future smile. Regular brushing, limiting sugary snacks, early dental check-ups, and treating cavities promptly are not just short-term solutions—they are investments in a lifetime of healthy teeth. Don’t wait for pain to appear. Protecting baby teeth today means protecting your child’s confidence, health, and smile for tomorrow.

A colleague sent this to me and told me to discuss a little something about this, so let’s go!

To our patients, may sinusunod po kami na tariff para sa mga services namin. We honor the pricelist mandated by our chapter. We also put a lot of effort, love and passion sa works namin. Pero wag nyo po kaming iadvice on how we regulate our prices. Shareholder yarn? Ems. Eme 💔

To our colleagues, mga doc nag aral tayo ng madaming taon. Maraming sleepless nights waiting for the result of boards. Nag aral ng preceptorship. Ang mahal ng materials at lab fee, tapos ibababa nyo lang yung prices ng procedures nyo just to get patients? Ang sad. Uplift the profession. Huyyy sa love life nga alam natin worth natin sa work pa kaya? Cheret. Know your worth, alam mo ang quality ng work na binibigay mo di nyan deserve yung 7000 sa zironia ano ba naman yan sis. Eme. A gentle reminder that you should prioritize the quality of your work than the quantity of your patients. Tapos magagalit pa saming mga nasunod lang naman sa pricelist yung mga patients kasi grabe daw kami maningil, when we should all be charging accordingly. Eme. 😤

Neglecting oral care during braces treatment can cause irreversible enamel damage, tooth decay, and periodontal disease. 🦷🪥

Wearing braces is a crucial step toward achieving a straight and beautiful smile, but it also requires a higher level of oral care. The brackets and wires create spaces where food particles and plaque can easily accumulate, making it more difficult to clean your teeth properly. If oral hygiene is neglected during orthodontic treatment, it can result in serious problems such as enamel decalcification, tooth decay, and gum inflammation.

Enamel damage appears as white spots around the brackets—early signs of mineral loss that can become permanent. Plaque build-up around the braces can lead to cavities, especially in hard-to-reach areas, and increase the risk of gum disease due to chronic inflammation. Over time, this can compromise not only your dental health but also the final results of your orthodontic treatment.

To prevent these complications, it's essential to brush thoroughly after every meal using an orthodontic toothbrush or electric brush, floss daily with special orthodontic aids, and maintain regular professional cleanings. Good oral hygiene is the foundation for a healthy smile—before, during, and after braces.

Warning po sa mga nagpapa-install ng Orthodontic Braces tapos hindi na bumabalik for adjustment or check-up…friendly advise, i-save mo na lang ang pera mo dahil may chance na mas lalong masira ang ngipin mo kahit dentist pa ang nagkabit nyan. 😱🥲

Kapag hindi ka bumabalik for proper adjustment, your teeth could be moving the WRONG way. 😢

And worst?
💸 You’ll pay double later — for repair, for extraction or surgeries, maybe even for dentures.

So please, kung may braces ka —
BALIK KA SA DENTIST. PA-ADJUST KA. MAGPA-CHECK UP KA.

✅ Dental treatment is a commitment.
Your future smile depends on it.

Impacted wisdom teeth are often dismissed as harmless if they don’t cause pain. But research shows that over 70% of impacted third molars are asymptomatic, meaning they cause no immediate signs of discomfort—yet they can be silently destructive beneath the surface.

When a wisdom tooth is impacted, especially if it's mesially angulated (tilted forward), it frequently presses against the adjacent second molar. This hidden pressure can lead to:

➡️Deep decay between the teeth that brushing and flossing can't reach

➡️Bone loss around the second molar

➡️Formation of fluid-filled cysts that may damage surrounding bone and nerves

➡️Gum inflammation or infection even without visible swelling

Most patients remain unaware until the damage is advanced—by then, both the wisdom tooth and its neighbor might require extraction.

Early diagnosis through dental X-rays and proactive removal of impacted molars can prevent these complications and protect long-term oral health. It’s not about removing teeth—it’s about preserving the ones that matter.

Don’t wait for pain to be your first symptom.
Wisdom teeth don’t always hurt—until they’ve already done the damage.
