📍Severe Early Childhood Caries (S-ECC) is more than just "bad teeth." It is a systemic failure that compromises a child’s growth, emotional well-being, and their right to live free from preventable pain. When a child suffers from severe decay, they lose more than their smile. They lose sleep, nutrition, and the confidence to play and learn.
👉🏼 It is perhaps the most frustrating reality in pediatric dentistry: the most prevalent chronic disease in children is also the most avoidable. When we say "tooth decay is preventable," we aren't just making a clinical statement; we are making an ethical one. If it can be stopped, then allowing it to progress to the point of systemic suffering is a failure of the systems around the child, not the child themselves.
