smile make-overs

We love to go the extra mile to find the best possible solutions to whatever concerns you dentally. Our patients appreciate being given very well-informed options. Your German-Philippine Dental Studio with Dr. Malou Mendoza is a high-quality, super friendly and honest and dependable dental clinic. You can expect a dentist who does not 'make up' cavities, does not charge you for every step of the procedure, takes quality time to talk about your concerns, who knows her trade and has travelled far in her quest for knowledge, and who delivers pain-less quality care. We have seen so many unethical habits of dentists, that we think it can be a real 'unique selling point' to simply be fair with our guests and to do the job right. In fact, Dr. Mendoza's own dreadful experience with a dentist when she was young had been a key motivation when she decided to take up dentistry as a profession. Patient Safety: autoclaving/sterilization is taken seriously and, by outsourcing the panoramic X-Ray imaging, Dr.Mendoza maintains a low-radiation office:

The Doctor's Bio:

Dr. Malou Mendoza has completed her studies in Dental Medicine at the University of the East in Manila in 2003. After passing the licensure board exam for dentistry, she worked at MGM Oral Care dental clinic at the Shangri-La EDSA Plaza Mall as an associate dentist (2004), where she began to specialize on orthodontics. In 2005 she contributed to a multi-specialty clinic as the head dentist (orthodontics) until the opportunity to opening her own practice arose. Dr. Mendoza has also provided bi-annual check-ups for school children at an elementary school in Angeles City, Pampanga where she began to further appreciate the importance of early dental education and prevention, as well as the notion that not just children need painless, careful treatment. In our office, everyone is treated with the same level of care. As experience grew, Dr. Mendoza has been the on-call orthodontic consultant for ADT dental clinic (Ortigas), St.Joseph Dental Clinic, MAGAT Dental Clinic (both Angeles City), as well as an international diagnostics consultant for the Ortigas-based callcenter of a U.S. More recently, she has completed a course in Dental Implantology and has successfully treated local and foreign patients from GERMANY, USA, HONG KONG, UK, IRELAND, SPAIN, CANADA, AUSTRALIA, TURKEY, BRASIL and GUAM. She has undergone a six-month specialization course at the Philippine Association of Esthetic Dentistry, and has attended advanced orthodontics seminars at NYU and Barcelona, Spain in her quest for the latest updates. In complex cases, Dr. Mendoza cooperates with Dr. Ramonito Lee, a leading expert in the country and a pioneer in the field of implantology. We also work very closely with Fabian Zinser of Zinser Dentaltechnik, Germany.

Temporary Safety Protocols - 7 lucky points:

1. Always wear your mask until you gargle the Chlorhexidine provided in the office and treatment / check-up starts.

2. No accompanying person is allowed inside the office.

3. The waiting area is located pool side.

4. The guards downstairs will be checking visitors' body temperature before you can get inside the building as per administration policy.

5. Isolation gown is provided, before sitting down on the dental chair.

6. In some instances or procedures, we will consider turning off the a/c and opening the door ad hoc (for negative air pressure) during treatment to reduce aerosol build-up inside the office.

7. Proper handwashing technique is to be strictly observed before the procedure - soap and basin are ready & sanitized before each visitor.

Please note that we had high cross-infection prevention standards even before the Corona-virus season, on our side (instrument & material safety etc.).

We have always been a "boutique"-type dental office without overcrowded waiting area, the number of visitors is currently even reduced.

These additional measures from your side are appreciated. We don't expect a spread from patient-to-patient. Please take care and don't delay necessary treatment!

Wow fact: in 2017 I spent more on continuing education (seminars / symposia) here & abroad than for my degree!

Does that also happen in other professions?

Sorry for the long radio silence, we're just back from Europe - with new insights.

Here's picture evidence of this year's Carrière Symposium in Barcelona (orthodontics). Listened to advanced topics & made new connections. Front row experience.

We then met several textbook authors (see red carpet pics) in Pforzheim, Germany at the Forestadent "region meets technology" symposium (also ortho). Also learned that Alphorns aren't just a Swiss thing.

On the crowd pic you can see office manager Nils Sens having an interesting conversation with Dr. Dirk Bister from Cambridge about clear aligner systems like ACCUsmile (you need really good eyes LOL there should be a prize).

Preparing documents for a Master's degree course for Dr. Mendoza in 2018 at UIC (part attendance, part online). Crossing our fingers.

Finally, reading session at Hilke Sens' garden. :)

Thank you Sirona-Dentsply for the pretty good training in virtual implant planning / working with guided systems. Although we're using different systems (Camlog / Straumann / Leader), there were one or two 'mental take-aways'...
