𝙃𝙤𝙣𝙤𝙧𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙏𝙧𝙖𝙞𝙡𝙗𝙡𝙖𝙯𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙒𝙤𝙢𝙚𝙣 𝙤𝙛 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝘼𝙁𝙋 𝘿𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙖𝙡 𝙎𝙚𝙧𝙫𝙞𝙘𝙚

Among the many inspiring women in the Armed Forces of the Philippines, three outstanding female leaders have broken barriers and paved the way for future generations in the AFP Dental Service.

It all began on March 19, 1987, when then 1Lt Amanda L. Alfonso DS courageously stepped forward as the first female dental officer - opening doors for other female dentists to the organization.

On August 1, 1991, 1Lt Nieves Teresita D. Boac DS, continued that legacy as the first female regular officer, later rising to become the first female Major Service Dental Surgeon on January 9, 2017.

Another trailblazer, BGen Angelica De Lara-Torres DS, also made history for being appointed as the first female The Chief Dental Service, AFP on January 17, 2020 and became the first female Brigadier General in the AFP Dental Service since its creation in 1954.

Their stories are more than milestones - they are powerful reminders that leadership knows no gender. Through their leadership, dedication, and achievements, they continue to inspire excellence and empower women in service.

𝗕𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗮𝗱𝗶𝗲𝗿 𝗚𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗜𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗿𝗼 𝗔𝗹𝗲𝘅 𝗖 𝗨𝗿𝗿𝗶𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗮 𝗗𝗦, The Chief Dental Service of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), paid a courtesy call to 𝗕𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗮𝗱𝗶𝗲𝗿 𝗚𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗙𝗲𝗿𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗚𝗲𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗰 𝗣 𝗥𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗿𝗲𝘇 𝗣𝗔, Commander of the AFP Reserve Command (AFPRESCOM), on 𝟬𝟯 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 at the 𝗔𝗙𝗣𝗥𝗘𝗦𝗖𝗢𝗠 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗾𝘂𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀. Upon arrival, BGen. Urriquia was accorded 𝗙𝗼𝘆𝗲𝗿 𝗛𝗼𝗻𝗼𝗿𝘀 and formally marked his visit by signing the 𝗴𝘂𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗯𝗼𝗼𝗸 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗔𝗙𝗣𝗧𝗥𝗜𝗣 𝗰𝗼𝗿𝗻𝗲𝗿 at the Command Lobby.

The visit coincided with the meeting and consultation with the Chiefs of Technical Administrative Service (𝗧𝗔𝗦) Regular and designated representatives, regarding the Selection of 𝗞𝗲𝘆 𝗣𝗼𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗧𝗔𝗦 𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗱𝘆 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗲 and their integration into the regular force.

With this year’s theme, "Dentista’y Kaagapay sa Ngiting Walang Humpay," we were honored to host the students of Fort Aguinaldo Elementary School. From dental check-ups to oral health education, our mission was to ensure these kids keep smiling with confidence! 🎒🪥

The Chief Dental Service, AFP, BGEN ISIDRO ALEX C URRIQUIA DS, received an award for his instrumental role in the creation of the Philippine Coast Guard Dental Health Record System, today, 30 September 2025 at Bayview Park Hotel, Manila.

This recognition stands as a testament to his unwavering commitment to inter-agency collaboration, innovation, and the continued advancement of dental health services across government institutions. Through this initiative, the AFP Dental Service has become a helping hand and valuable partner to other agencies—extending its expertise, technical support, and dedication to improving the overall standard of dental care within the uniformed services community.
