ENAMEL. What is it & how do you take care of it? ⚙️

This is the hard outer layer of your teeth. It protects everything inside, but once it’s gone, it doesn’t grow back.

What damages it:
⚪️ acid (soda, candy)
⚪️ bacteria
⚪️ brushing too hard

How to protect it:
⚪️ brush gently (2×/day, fluoride)
⚪️ wait 30 mins after consuming acidic food before brushing
⚪️ drink water after meals
⚪️ limit sugary/acidic drinks

If you’re wearing clear aligners or just planning to get one, here are 3 easy ways to keep it clean & pristine:

1️⃣ rinse every time you remove them: use lukewarm water to wash off saliva & plaque, never hot water.

2️⃣ brush daily, gently: use a soft toothbrush & clear, unscented soap (avoid toothpaste since it’s abrasive).

3️⃣ store properly when not wearing: use a case to prevent bacteria buildup, loss, or damage (+ never wrap in tissue).

Don’t forget to brush + floss before putting your aligners back in to prevent staining & bad odor. 🦷
