While toothbrushing is the primary method of cleaning our teeth and the surrounding tissues, brushing harder does not necessarily mean cleaner teeth. Brushing harder may cause injury to your gums and teeth. This will lead to hypersensitivity, exposure of the root surfaces of the teeth, and non-carious lesions that will eventually require restorations. Dr. Criszel earned her degree in Doctor of Dental Medicine from the University of the Philippines Manila in 2012. The following year, she took and passed the licensure examination for dentists with flying colors, after ranking 3rd among the 457 examinees. Since then, she has gained more knowledge and experience as an associate dentist in several dental clinics in Metro Manila. Realizing early on that she has a genuine passion for teaching, she took her Masters’ degree in Health Professions Education in UP Manila and has been in the academe field since 2013. Dr. Criszel is currently a faculty member in the UP College of Dentistry while still maintaining her private dental practice. She has also attended post-graduate seminars and workshops in Orthodontics and Esthetic Dentistry to further hone her skills and expertise. Outside her dentistry and teaching career, Dr. Criszel is a proud auntie of 7 beautiful children and a furmom to a wonderful baby dog. She also loves to read, travel, and create works of art whenever she has a spare time.
