What's your dental story?

This patient calls me "Ate" all the time. She never addressed me as her doctor. But she's polite and never late, so I never had a problem with it.

After her last session, I overhead her and my auntie's (my assistant) conversation, she said: "Nanay, uuwi na po 'ko ng probinsya..." and continue to talk about their rice field and pwesto sa palengke.

That was the moment I realized that she treated us as her family. Younger me would be annoyed, younger me wanted people to addressed me properly because I worked hard for this title. But those letters before or after your name won't mean a thing if your patient doesn't trust you and treat you like a family.

Today, Im proud to be her ATE because I am her very first dentist.

SHE TRUSTED ME LIKE A SISTER.
