Evidence-based splint therapy. 🦷✨
Patient presents with deep bite history of two prior orthodontic treatments all first premolars and upper right first molar extracted narrow arch form and sagittal constriction also with joint clicking. The splint does not permanently reposition the condyle or alter bony position. It simply provides a neutral occlusal foundation by equalizing contacts on both sides eliminating interferences and allowing muscles to relax.
This may help reduce clicking and joint sounds by removing forces that worsen disc movement though clicking may not disappear completely since it relates to disc position not just bite.
Any positional change is purely functional and temporary while worn. Its purpose is to retrain the habitual bite reduce unnecessary jaw movements and provide relief. Definitive correction follows once stability is achieved. 🦷
