Many people believe aggressive brushing cleans teeth better, but too much force can actually weaken them. Excessive pressure wears down enamel, the protective outer layer, which doesn’t regenerate. Loss of enamel leads to sensitivity and a higher risk of cavities.
Overbrushing also harms gums, pushing tissue away from teeth and causing gum recession. Exposed roots become more vulnerable to decay, infection, and structural damage, which may eventually affect tooth stability.
Proper brushing focuses on technique, not strength. Using a soft-bristled toothbrush with gentle, circular motions effectively removes plaque while protecting teeth and gums. Healthy brushing ensures long-term oral health without causing unnecessary harm.
