🦷 “Akala niya simpleng sensitivity lang…”

But beneath that discomfort was hidden tooth decay that had already weakened the lower right molar. 😔

A 40-year-old engineer visited our clinic because of persistent sensitivity in his lower right molars. Like many busy professionals, he almost ignored it because the pain was still manageable.

After a thorough examination, we discovered dental caries that needed immediate treatment before it progressed into a root canal or even tooth extraction.

✨ We carefully removed the decay and restored the tooth with a tooth-colored composite restoration, preserving its strength, function, and natural appearance.

❤️ This is one of the reasons patients trust our clinics.

We don’t recommend treatments based on what is bigger or more expensive—we recommend what is best for preserving your natural teeth.

Every treatment begins with a careful diagnosis, an honest discussion of your options, and a commitment to provide conservative, evidence-based dentistry whenever possible.

Because the best dentistry is not about doing more…
It’s about doing what is right for every patient.

💡 Remember: Tooth sensitivity is often an early warning sign of:
✔️ Dental caries (tooth decay)
✔️ Worn enamel
✔️ Cracked teeth
✔️ Gum recession
✔️ Failing restorations

The earlier it’s treated, the simpler, more comfortable, and more affordable the solution usually is.

✨ Your natural teeth are designed to last a lifetime. Don’t wait until a small cavity becomes a major dental problem.

📍Whether you’re a student preparing for exams, a professional leading meetings, or simply someone who values long-term oral health, protecting your smile starts with early dental care.

📩 Message us today to schedule your dental consultation.

✨ She Came In Ready to Replace Her Crown…

❤️ She Left Smiling Because She Didn’t Have To.

Sometimes, the best dentistry isn’t about doing more.

It’s about knowing when less is better.

A 65-year-old patient came to our clinic concerned about the discoloration of her upper right first premolar crown, which had been placed years earlier at another dental clinic.

Like many patients, she believed there was only one solution:

🦷 “Doctor, I think the whole crown needs to be replaced.”

Replacing the crown certainly was an option.

But before recommending treatment, we asked a different question.

💡 “Can we preserve it instead?”

After a comprehensive clinical examination, we found that the existing crown remained structurally sound.

The problem wasn’t the crown itself.

It was the discolored cervical area, which affected the appearance of her smile.

✨ Instead of removing a functional crown and sacrificing additional healthy tooth structure, we chose a more conservative, minimally invasive solution.

The discolored area was carefully restored and seamlessly blended using a direct composite veneer, restoring harmony, symmetry, and natural esthetics.

The transformation was subtle.

But the impact was profound.

😊 She didn’t just leave with a brighter smile.

❤️ She left knowing she was able to keep what was still healthy.

Sometimes, that’s the greatest gift modern dentistry can provide.

🌿 Why Conservative Dentistry Matters

Many people assume that an old dental crown automatically needs to be replaced.

In reality…

🦷 Not every crown needs a complete replacement.

When a restoration remains strong and functional, a conservative approach may provide beautiful esthetic results while preserving more of your natural tooth.

Whenever clinically appropriate, conservative dentistry can help:

✅ Preserve healthy tooth structure

✅ Avoid unnecessary replacement of existing restorations

✅ Improve smile esthetics with minimally invasive treatment

✅ Reduce treatment time and cost

✅ Maintain long-term oral health

Because once healthy tooth structure is removed…

It can never be replaced.

✨ Our Philosophy

At Dacuyan-Fianza Orthodontic and Dental Suite and Perez-Dacuyan Dental Clinic, every treatment begins with one simple question:

“What is the most conservative solution that will provide the best long-term result?”

🦷 Preserve healthy teeth.

✨ Restore natural beauty.

🛡️ Protect what can still be saved.

📚 Practice evidence-based dentistry.

💎 Because exceptional dentistry isn’t measured by how much treatment is performed.

It’s measured by how much healthy tooth structure is preserved.

🚨 MYTH: Braces Can Cure TMJ

💬 “Doc, if I get braces, will my TMJ go away?”

❌ Not necessarily.

Current scientific evidence shows that braces are NOT a primary treatment for Temporomandibular Disorders (TMD/TMJ).

🦷 Braces are excellent for:

✅ Straightening teeth
✅ Correcting bite problems when indicated
✅ Improving function and esthetics

❗But they are not designed to treat jaw joint disorders.

If your TMJ symptoms improved after braces, it doesn’t necessarily mean the braces cured them. TMD is multifactorial, and symptoms may improve with:

✔️ Conservative care
✔️ Splint therapy
✔️ Physical therapy
✔️ Stress management
✔️ The natural course of the condition

🦷 The right diagnosis comes before the right treatment.

Before starting braces for TMJ, seek a comprehensive evaluation by a dentist with advanced training in Orthodontics and Temporomandibular Disorders (TMD) & Orofacial Pain.

🦷 Can a root canal heal a large infection? The answer may surprise you.

The first X-ray shows a tooth with a large dark area around the root tip—a sign of significant bone loss caused by infection from a dead dental pulp.

Just 1 month after root canal treatment (RCT), the follow-up X-ray shows early signs of bone healing. While complete healing usually takes several months to over a year, this is exactly the direction we hope to see.

The body’s ability to heal is remarkable—once the source of infection inside the tooth is eliminated. 🙏🦷

🦷 What does a Root Canal Treatment actually do?

Many people think a root canal “removes the infection around the root.”

Not exactly.

A root canal treatment removes bacteria, infected tissue, and toxins from inside the root canal system. Once that source of infection is eliminated and the canals are thoroughly cleaned, disinfected, shaped, and sealed, the body can begin repairing the surrounding bone naturally.

Think of it this way:

❌ Infection inside the tooth ➜ Bone destruction

✅ Infection removed ➜ Bone regeneration begins

The root canal treatment doesn’t directly heal the bone—the body does.

📊 How successful is Root Canal Treatment?

When performed using modern techniques and followed by a well-sealed permanent restoration:

✅ 90–95% success rate for uncomplicated cases.

Even teeth with large infections around the root can often be saved without extraction.

Success depends on:

✔ Complete removal of bacteria from the canal system

✔ Proper cleaning, shaping, and irrigation

✔ Three-dimensional sealing (obturation)

✔ A well-sealed permanent filling or crown to prevent reinfection

✔ Good oral hygiene and regular follow-up appointments

✅ How do dentists know if a Root Canal is successful?

Success isn’t determined by the X-ray alone.

Dentists evaluate several important clinical and radiographic parameters:

Clinical signs

✅ No spontaneous toothache

✅ Comfortable when chewing

✅ No swelling or gum abscess

✅ No tenderness around the root

✅ Normal tooth function

✅ No increasing mobility

Radiographic signs

🦴 The dark area around the root gradually becomes smaller

🦴 New bone fills the previous defect

🦴 The periodontal ligament returns to a normal appearance

🦴 No new areas of infection develop

⏳ Why are follow-up X-rays important?

Bone healing takes time.

Typical healing timeline:

📅 1 month – Early signs of healing may begin

📅 3–6 months – Progressive bone regeneration

📅 6–12 months – Significant healing in many cases

📅 Up to 2–4 years – Complete healing of very large lesions

Every patient heals differently, which is why periodic follow-up is essential.

❤️ Saving your natural tooth is usually the best option.

A natural tooth allows you to chew efficiently, preserves surrounding bone, and avoids more complex procedures whenever possible.

Modern root canal treatment allows many teeth that were once considered “hopeless” to remain healthy and functional for many years.

Early diagnosis and timely treatment often lead to better outcomes.
