When Federico Adriano Peralta IV ranked first in the September 2019 Physician Licensure Examination with a 90.92% rating, he completed an already remarkable streak in the Peralta family.
Four years earlier, his eldest sister, Ana Bianca Eloise Adriano Peralta, placed 6th in the August 2015 PLE with an 89.17% rating. Their other sister, Ana Eryka Elaine Adriano Peralta, followed in 2017, placing 5th with 89.67%.
By then, all three Peralta siblings had taken the Physician Licensure Examination in different years, and every one of them had finished among the Top 10.
They are the children of physicians Dr. Eric Peralta, an anesthesiologist, and Dr. Ana Peralta, an obstetrician-gynecologist.
Growing up, the siblings were already familiar with hospital life. They later shared that their parents did not pressure them to become doctors. Instead, seeing their parents at work became one of the reasons they developed an interest in medicine themselves.
Their academic paths also closely followed one another. All three took BS Medical Technology before pursuing Medicine at the University of Santo Tomas.
Bianca graduated from Medicine magna cm laude, while Eryka also finished magna cm laude. Federico graduated summa cm laude in 2018 and was the valedictorian of his Medicine batch.
As the youngest, Federico also had two older sisters he could turn to while studying. He shared that Bianca and Eryka would answer his questions and pass down their notes to him.
But after both of his sisters became PLE topnotchers, expectations began to grow for Federico to achieve the same. He later shared that he used that pressure to challenge himself, improve his grades, and change his study habits.
The following year, Federico took the PLE and finished at the very top, ranking first among the September 2019 passers.
Bianca, 6th in 2015. Eryka, 5th in 2017. Federico, 1st in 2019.
Three siblings, three different batches, and all three among the country's highest-ranking new physicians in their respective licensure examinations.
