Do's and Don'ts after Tooth Extraction

🦷Do's (First 24-72 Hours)
1. Control Bleeding: Bite gently on gauze for 30-60 mins, changing as needed; slight oozing is normal.
2. Rest: Elevate your head and avoid strenuous activity or heavy lifting for a few days.
3. Ice Pack: Apply to your cheek for 15-20 min intervals to reduce swelling.
4. Medication: Take pain relievers and antibiotics as prescribed; don't stop antibiotics early.
5. Eat Soft Foods: Yogurt, soup, mashed potatoes, eggs, applesauce (eat with a spoon, not a straw)
6. Gentle Cleaning: Brush other teeth normally, avoiding the extraction site; after 24 hrs, gently rinse with warm salt water (½ tsp salt in 8oz water).

🦷Don'ts (First Few Days)
1. No straw: Suction can dislodge the clot.
2. No smoking /Va**ng : Ni****ne hinders healing and increases dry socket risk.
3. No Vigorous Rinsing/Spitting: This can loosen the clot.
4. Don't Touch: Avoid poking the wound with your tongue or fingers.
5. No Alcohol: Delay healing and cause infection.
6. Avoid Hot Liquids: Can increase bleeding.
7. No Strenuous Activity: Wait 2-3 days before exercising.
