🦷What is Oral prophylaxis?
👩🏻‍⚕️A preventive measure and a treatment procedure. It involves the complete cleaning of teeth.

🦷What happens during oral prophylaxis?
👩🏻‍⚕️It removes tartar and plaque build-up from the surfaces of the teeth as well as those hidden in between and under the gums. The dentist uses a scaler, a type of hand instrument, to remove the plaque and tartar.

🦷What not to do after oral prophylaxis?
👩🏻‍⚕️It is also entirely normal for gums to bleed slightly during professional teeth cleaning appointments

🦷What is included in Oral prophylaxis?
👩🏻‍⚕️Oral prophylaxis is a series of dental checkups, examinations, cleanings, and preventative oral health procedures performed by a dental professional to examine your dental health and protect you against dental diseases. The techniques used in oral prophylaxis are thought to improve dental health.

🦷How long does prophylaxis take?
👩🏻‍⚕️The whole appointment may take 1hour.

🦷How often should I do oral prophylaxis?
👩🏻‍⚕️ Prophylaxis is indicated twice a year as a prophylactic treatment, but should be administered every 3-4 months on periodontitis patients. Though gum disease cannot be totally reversed, the dentist can utilize prophylaxis to effectively slow its harmful progression.
